Mar-04-10  chessmoron: <Jessie> You should really do voice-over commentaries on your youtube videos.
Mar-04-10  crawfb5: Oh, one thing I should have mentioned is the drawn game was in the famous Geller/Spassky/Keres vs Panno/Pilnik/Najdorf triplet line from Goteborg 1955 (Geller was the first to bust it, so Geller vs Panno, 1955 qualifies as the "stem" game).

I wasn't really thinking about the historical roots when playing the game. I suppose now I <have> to write it up, but it's going to take more work than I anticipated. Gligoric vs Fischer, 1958 is often considered the "last" word, but I'm not quite so sure. We'll see what I can pull together on this project. Maybe I should codename it <iceberg>.

Mar-05-10  Open Defence: some more Bollywood "matkas and jhatkas"

these songs are popular at wedding "sangeets" where the girls from the brides side usually perform a dance to a popular bollywood song:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0Un...

this is a number that me and my husband shook a lot too back in the day:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jfit...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOOl... same song with subtitles in English but poor video quality

Mar-05-10  Open Defence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tDp... this is a cracking song! check out the guitar playing!!
Mar-05-10  hms123: <jessicatumblingqueen> I loved the Morphy video. The music was great, especially the NO Jazz at the beginning. Anachronistic or not, it set the stage wonderfully. I also got a big chuckle out of the <Tumbling Scott> after his loss to Morphy.
Mar-05-10  technical draw: I just saw the 1st part of the Morphy video, it's just great!. Get a voice narration and it's ready for TV. Excellent quality. Your videos get better and better JFQ. Where's Morphy 2?
Mar-05-10  Travis Bickle: Hello Yer Majesty, ; P Here's a love song from Paul to his wife Linda.

Mar-06-10  achieve: Heya <Jess>!

Howzit going? Here's FEN and a question that begs for an answer... Actually this is today's Puzzle, and I had good fun with it. Elementary stuff yet at the same time "elegantly devastating", if that word-combination exists...

How does White make progress? Fancy a go?

Took me several minutes to get myself on the right track, and win it as white.

<Morphy> vid lined up for later today!

jessicafischerqueen: <McLovin> I thought about doing voice over, but I prefer to let the music be forefront- like a live orchestra in a silent movie theatre.

Music is more eloquent than me. Also I don't want to buy a microphone and let people hear my squeaky voice. I sound like Minnie Mouse with a permanent cold.

Mar-06-10  achieve: <Jess> I watched the <Morphy> film and found the music exquisitely chosen, and watched while being completely drawn in. One minor tip, especially with "elderly guys" watching, if the background is relatively dark, the text in red is hardly discernable, and a different colour like green might be better suited.

Maybe i am just whining and the lighting (bright sunshine) made viewing more difficult anyway. Also, red, as a colour, evokes excitement and restlessness, whereas green and pastel teints evoke rather the opposite.

You can also use that as you consider adding text segments. Maybe you already did; just thought I'd toss it in.

heh

BTW message back at The Center!

  jessicafischerqueen: Thanks <Doctor>!

Yes I may be spoiled here with my GIANT MONITOR.

You're not jealous of my giant monitor are you?

I do understand your point- but I decided a long time ago to go with Orange (bright) as the "default" color for the titles.

Reason being is that if you use different colors in the same video it doesn't look "good" to my eye.

And the color that's most visible against almost all shades of background- by far- is the bright orange.

It's particularly good with black and white images- which is 90% of what I use for the chess films.

However you are right- sometimes I need an image and it's too dark for the orange, and sometimes I make a title before the image instead of on it.

But sometimes, after you've arranged the soundtrack to fit the image line, it's "too late" to alter where the title is without having to start the whole video over from scratch.

I'm very excited about my new software program I found via following BOOMIE'S trail of software crumbs.

MORPHY- CHESS GOD Part two will have "moving chess pieces"

Mar-06-10  achieve: <You're not jealous of my giant monitor are you?> No - that would be way down on my list of things yours that I would be INSANELY JEALOUS of...

heh

or would it?

Ok - I found the clip, posted it at my place, but really, the Concert Video of Prince's Sign O' The Times tour, is definitely a must watch and have.

I'm sure you can rip it somewhere off the Nutterweb.

How Prince takes over at 6:33 in the YT clip I posted at my place is really unbelievable... I have the original VHS tape of this film. Still kicks A$$

Mar-06-10  Travis Bickle: Hi Lady Jess! Its great to wake up to your vivid personality and happy exuberance!! ; ) I'm glad you liked Sir Paul's music. Maybe I'm Amazed was was Paul's 1st post Beatles single and to me still had The Beatle magic, (vibe), that nobody could to deny! ; P My Love was Macca's 1st post Beatle U.S. number 1 hit.

Im glad you decided to tackle 'Project Morphy'! I mean we Fischer fans have to know about the player Bobby referred to as "probably the greatest genius of them all"! I never heard that insinuation about Morphy being gay. Nah with all those women throwing themselves at him how could be tied down to 1, LOL! <jessicafischerqueen: Maybe he was a pure chess God and above such things.> I don't think men can do that, because women are just too beautiful! ; P

Mar-06-10  crawfb5: <Absolutely pulverizing another human being over the chessboard till there's nothing left but wreckage.>

Is there anything else?

I've started a draft of notes on that Soviets vs Argentines line game that had me tied in knots. I'm up to the point where I got buried in thought at the choice point (the diagram I posted a few days ago). Look for it at some point in the future in my forum, or if I cannot control the length, at a disreputable bookseller near you.

Mar-06-10  Travis Bickle: Jess this may have been the last video made by The Beatles. This shows all of the fab 4 & spouses, but the song was written specifically for Patti Boyd Harrison's wife.

P.S. When Frank Sinatra did this song in concert he said "this is the greatest love song written in the last 50 years, a song by Lennon & McCartney". Poor Frank didn't know George Harrison wrote it. ; P

<Q: Do you enjoy chess?

Bareev: Chess without computers, yes! With computers no.

Q: Would you play a match against a computer?

Bareev: If I'm dying.>

Mar-06-10  Jim Bartle: The "Chaiyya Chaiyya" video is pretty good; I hope the producers had good accident insurance. Too bad the female dancer isn't attractive.
Mar-06-10  Open Defence: the female dancer isnt attractive ? hmmm that's Malaika Arora Khan, considered a hottie ;-p
