| Mar-06-10 | | Open Defence: yes, she's what we call an "item girl" rather one that is used mainly for the dance sequences due to sex appeal versus poor acting ability.... |
|
| Mar-06-10 | | Open Defence: btw the sexiest item girls and referred to as "Item Bombs" |
|
| Mar-06-10 | | Jim Bartle: OD, I meant it in the sense of "That Ana Ivanovic is a great tennis player. Too bad she's not attractive." I notice Malaika Arora wasn't in the rest of the movie, just on top of the train. |
|
| Mar-06-10 | | Open Defence: now it looks weird that my reply is before your post :) |
|
| Mar-06-10 | | Jim Bartle: Yes, I did that on purpose, to make you look psychic! |

| Mar-06-10 | | Open Defence: hahahahaha loved that cartoon heheheh, they copied that scene in The Mask didnt they ? |
|
| Mar-06-10 | | Jim Bartle: The Bole Chudiyan looked great, too, but why weren't they on top of a train? |
|
| Mar-06-10 | | crawfb5: <OD> Yes, that's a still from Tex Avery's classic <Red Hot Riding Hood>. I found the full thing with better video quality than in my first version of this post: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn7S... The still is at about 3:20.
Yes, I think the Mask scene was inspired by it. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Everyone's gone BOLLYWOOD!
But BOOMIE insists it's now called MOLLYWOOD.
It's true check his forum.
I believe the term was originally coined by <Molly Ringwald> during her little-known role as a wastepaper basket in <Amitabh Bachchan's> immortal "Sholay." |

| Mar-07-10 | | crawfb5: I decided to stop annotating that game where I was channeling the spirit of <Old Geller> and post what I had in my forum. Three parts should be more than enough for one amateur game. After all, art is never completed, only abandoned. Another 2400 slips away...this guy is +157 -2 =2 at QA. Oh, well, I have a drawn ending against him with Black in another game, so I can drop his stats a little more... |

| Mar-07-10 | | achieve: <Jess> I downloaded it, the so-called "digitally remastered" DVD edition, but I compared it last night and in NO WAY does it come close to the "old" VHS tape I have the Prince Concert film on... The juice seems to have been squeezed out of it, audio wise. Funny huh?
But either way I hope you enjoy some of it if you download it. That concert always kept a special place in my heart, and it *is* that special moment in time, where I took it in fully... The song Forever in My Life, where after over 90 secs Prince hits his acoustic guitar chords, should hit you like "lightning", so sharp, yet the version I downloaded does not convey that dynamic. My ear never betrays me, but I did check and connected my VHS to my amplifier to verify! Blatantly obvious. I had a discussion with <rogge> a while back and he too had those experiences in the late 80s where you'd buy the CD of a favourite vinyl record, and Vinyl simply "outclassed" those CDs, to use <rogge>'s words. Anyhoo, did you know of that 20 move win over young Fischer by Doc Euwe <Pyke> posted at my place? I had almost forgotten that game!
Doh... |

| Mar-07-10 | | Travis Bickle: Hi Jess a horror film sounds interesting and since it's 1 of your passions I think it could be an excellent film! The song Strawberry Fields came about when The Beatles began writing for SGT Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band. It was a childhood place Lennon had memories of. Paul McCartney in turn wrote about a place in his childhood memories which was Penny Lane. The songs never made the album SGT Peppers because Beatles Manager Brian Epstein pressured record producer George Martin to release some knew Beatles music. Martin later stated that was the biggest mistake of his career! Imagine how much better Sgt Peppers would have been with those two songs on it! Here's some background on Strawberry Fields Forever.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strawb... Anyway here's a song by Apples In Stereo who emulate Strawberry Fields in it, a tribute to that masterpiece recording, Strawberry Fields Forever.

| Mar-07-10 | | Open Defence: well I got a horror film idea...
its about how a guy is addicted to being online all the time and he has this evil computer which consumes the souls of all those this guy chats with.. all of them end up inside the computer and he has to figure out a way to break the evil spell and set them free... |
|
| Mar-07-10 | | Travis Bickle: Deffi I didnt know you were a screenplay writer too! Great idea, Silicon hell in another dimension! That sounds like it could be a Bollywood production. ; P Jess here might be a better soundtrack than Strawberry Fields. It's quite a creepy recording. Some of the 1st words on this song enhanced by it being recently remastered. "I forgot all about it George I'm Sorry. Will You forgive me?" "Yes, you bitch". "Number 9, Number 9, Number 9". LOL

| Mar-07-10 | | Jim Bartle: "its about how a guy is addicted to being online all the time and he has this evil computer which consumes the souls of all those this guy chats with.." Sounds more like a reality show. |
|
| Mar-08-10 | | Jim Bartle: Now I'm worried. I'm going off into the mountains for a few days, and there's always one song or song fragment which plays in my head over and over on these trips. This time I just know it's going to be "Chal Chaiyya Chaiyya Chaiyya Chaiyya." |
|
| Mar-08-10 | | Open Defence: hehehehe just think of Malaika Arora Khan! |
|
| Mar-08-10 | | Jim Bartle: Doesn't work that way; sound only. One time years ago it was from Delaney and Bonnie--"When this battle is over/Who will wear the crown?"--and my companions were considering throwing me over a cliff. |
|
| Mar-08-10 | | Open Defence: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dfd...
if you kept singing that song they really might ;-p |
|
| Mar-08-10 | | Jim Bartle: OD, that video doesn't play for me ("not valid in your country"), but if it's "When This Battle Is Over," I really like that song, and love the early Delaney and Bonnie album "Accept No Substitute." A great backing band, most of which Joe Cocker subsequently stole to form the band which played at Woodstock and on his records (Leon Russell, Jim Keltner, etc.). But I didn't sing the whole song, just kept repeating that one line. Which for some reason bugged my friends. |
