<tamar: 27 h6! took me by surprise. >

<esticles: <tamar> me too! Such a pretty move--the indirect defense of the pawn by the rook via lateral pin on g6 is on of those unusual patterns that the human brain (mine at least) has irrational trouble spotting.>

Game Collection: Decoy into pin is applied baleful influence

Mar-15-10  achieve: <Jess> Wonderful part two video on <Morphy>, though watching it the first time I already *had* to rewind and pause on many occasions... Maybe I'm actually getting slower, or it may be a "generation thing" (which I lean towards questioning since <howard> thought the pacing was perfect, but that aside)...

So - the only explanation I have is that you are putting too many awesome photo's and crucial information in your short films, and especially those old nostalgic photos make me wanna pause the vid and look and study them (like the moving-piece-animation) for at least 20-30 secs

!!!!!

VERY impressive, and though <everyone> seems eager in anticipation to know how the story unfolds further, I am too!

And still digesting...

Mar-18-10  Jim Bartle: I looked at the cast of "Searching for Bobby Fischer," and was surprised to see how many future stars were in the cast.

Mantegna, Kingley, and Fishburne were already well-known (Fishburne as Ike Turner the year before), but Joan Allen, Laura Linney, David Paymer, Dan Hedaya,Tony Shalhoub and William H. Macy were not. Find a role for Steve Buscemi and you would have gotten all the up-and-coming character guys.

That's a heck of a cast.

Mar-18-10  Travis Bickle: <JimBartle> Laurence Fishburne was an established actor long before that. He was in the film Apocalypse Now as a member of the soldiers going down the Cambodian river.
Mar-18-10  Jim Bartle: Sure, and he was the black gang leader in "Cotton Club" telling Gregory Hines to beat the white bosses by dancing up a storm. He was great.

I was talking about when he became a real big name, which might go before the title.

Mar-18-10  Travis Bickle: <Jim Bartle> Thats the key. To have a role in a film with a title like Apocalypse Now!
Mar-19-10  Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, I sent you an EMU.

????

I just noticed. Do you think I should see what's going on out there?

Maybe it's a tornado or something.

Mar-20-10  Travis Bickle: You should put your television or radio on. Do you have a basement?
Mar-20-10  Mrs. Alekhine: aha!

It's a taste of the Monsoon.

No basement <Travanta> that's not where you want to be in a Monsoon.

You want to be on the 4th floor like me
