jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

jessicafischerqueen: <Big> yes I noticed you told <Mr. Goldsby> about that theory-

You know he was trying to find more info on that game for ages and he was ecstatic to have your help there.

Along those lines- I have a suspicion that the three different Charousek endings I posted are the "right ones" too- mainly because Charouchin bothered to list his sources, among which was the "Big Book" or "Holy Grail" of Hungarian chess history.

His biography proved very useful, though it could have used around 50 proofreads by people who can speak Hungarian, Russian, English and German.

But who knows maybe he had no funding.

It's a labor of love and his affection and admiration for Charousek shines through.

He is now one of my favorite players of all time. What a mensch he was- never complained about anything- and his best friend in the chess world, Géza Maróczy, was also his greatest rival and mortal enemy over the board. They helped each other every chance they got.

HANG HER!

I did something similar late at night but I didn't catch it in time.

I allowed mate in one against a correspondence opponent 400,000 points lower than me. I had around six more major pieces than him when he did it.

Thanks for the heads up- I will indeed check out the Fawn Pawn and likely add it to the collection.

Jul-09-10  hms123: <jessicalewiscarroll> The package is on its way to somewhere in Canada. I hope it gets there.

It is a foreign country, after all--do they speak English up there? I trust the post--it is safe as houses--I hope.

  jessicafischerqueen: No, they speak Canadian.

You can listen to what Canadian sounds like by watching episode one of <The Trailer Park Boys>.

It may sound crazy, but this show depicts Canada EXACTLY as it is today.

LOL

that's never out of date-

I took a course from those two guys at university.

Jul-09-10  Jim Bartle: One of my favorite Mackenzie Brothers sketches was when they brought on Geddy Lee to sing their theme song.

Bob gives the lyric sheet to Lee, but Lee says he's memorized them. And his brother says, "He's a professional, he learns the words."

And when they finally get to the song, the entire lyric is "Take off to the Great White North."

I still have your e-mail ...

I am still working on learning how to do video's.

My computer crashed in the early part of June. I had to have the hard drive (re-) formatted. Then, a couple of weeks later, it crashed again. (Apparently, I picked up a virus, even though I have Norton. What a drag!)

Of course, with all this going on, all the work I did a few weeks ago will have to be repeated ... its almost back to square one.

Jul-10-10  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess you Great White North vacation Lady! ; P I have two video clips for ya. The 1st is to make you feel at home! The 2nd is a surprise! ; P
