Defense has gotten worse, endgame play has degraded, players are to me not as creative as in years before. Ther will be no more Tals, no more Petrosians, no more Capablancas, no more Alekhines. Such a loss. Yes, one man's opinion. But correspondence chess has suffered the most as you no longer know if you are playing John Smith, or John Smith and his computer. Would some of the older masters stand up to computer scrutiny? Probably not. What really does that prove? They took chances against flesh and blood, not carbon and silicon.
