jessicafischerqueen: Not to mention <Nigel Short>, and my <Mom>.

Ok I found out what it is.

Yesterday I clicked on a message to <Jessica Fischer> that had that link, but it was titled "cute frog".

I clicked on the link, but it was taking so long to load I bailed on it so I didn't know what it was- until now.

Doesn't this mean it's a "one off" *so to speak* in the sense that by opening the mail I "auto forwarded" the link to my address book?

If it's a "one off" auto-forward then I don't have to make a new email account.

jessicafischerqueen: Ack you better check your "sent folders" if you clicked on the link-

Please let me know if any of you "auto forwarded" anything from that-

Oct-06-10  crawfb5: I don't see anything out of line in my "sent" folder. Might depend on what kind of security you have set up.
Oct-06-10  hms123: I don't see anything weird in my <sent> box either.

Yes the name's ok. It's not my actual name so I'm pretty sure I'm safe from future attacks by "male enhancement spam" companies.

Oct-06-10  Travis Bickle: Jess here's an accoustic version of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. George adds another verse to this version and the song has an entirley different feel to it. If you listen to any of the Anthology Beatles CD's you will hear completely different versions of Beatle songs. The Fab 4 were so damn creative! ; P

You know it might not seem possible but I think that version of "My Guitar Gently Weeps" is superior to the other version

Oct-07-10  LIFE Master AJ: << Oct-07-10 Russian Grandmasters: Sorry <AJ> I'm really upset and jittery about this recent incident- if you look at the mass address on that <filth> that was sent to you from my supposedly private email account-

People hack e-mails all the time. Apparently some people know how to send e-mails ... and make it look like it came from your account.

I know this for a fact. I went through exactly what you are going through. (I got e-mails from myself! Of course that's impossible.)

I tried to get law enforcement to investigate, needless to say, the FBI had better things to do ...

The one thing I refused to do was let someone "run me off" or intimidate me. I just kept the e-mail address and told them that I was NOT sending those e-mails.

In good time, the problem went away.

Trust me. I am NOT mad at you ... and I DO believe you. There are cyber cruds out there who make a living doing this kind of stuff.

Oct-09-10  crawfb5: From an old Soltis column on GMs playing while sick:

<Timman once said that whenever he took Mikhail Botvinnik's advice of getting two weeks of fresh, country air before a tournament it made him sick. In this game he blamed the flu for his quick collapse after outplaying his opponent [Nigel Short] in the opening.

Short wasn't buying that alibi, however. "I came here with brain damage, and now Jan's got the flu, so we're even," he said.>

In Larsen vs Ivkov, 1966, Larsen has just played 9. dxe5 here:

"That became theory, and people did not realize I only played it because I was ill and wanted to simplify," Larsen later said.

Fascinating- how did you happen to be looking at the <Larsen> game?

How wonderful to be such a strong player that your "shortcuts" can turn out to be secretly brilliant.

Also, more evidence that <Nigel Short> is, far and away, the funniest chess master in history.

LOL they payed him a King's Ransom (deservedly) to comment here on the World Series and he promptly began referring to the Black pieces as <The Brothers> and the White pieces as <The Honkeys>.

You see, having once contested a World Series Match, I guess he can say anything he wants.

On that topic, I just ran across a gem today on "ettiquette of posting in other people's personal forums."

<Do you often go into someone's house and spit in their face whenever you disagree with them?>

AHHAAHAHAHA how brilliant- and succinct.

The best part is that the author of this very fine piece of writing didn't actually insult the other fellow.

I think he asked this because he really wanted to know the answer.

I wish I could keep hold of my temper like him.

Oh and did <sneaky pete> come up with a new Tuna there?

Oh and one more- I almost had a heart attack after reading this one:

Oct-09-10  crawfb5: <Fascinating- how did you happen to be looking at the <Larsen> game?>

It was in the same Soltis column as the Timman-Short game.

<You see, having once contested a World Series Match, I guess he can say anything he wants.>

Yes, I suppose everything else after that would be downhill.

<On that topic, I just ran across a gem today on "ettiquette of posting in other people's personal forums."

<Do you often go into someone's house and spit in their face whenever you disagree with them?>>

In an ideal world, yes.

<I think he asked this because he really wanted to know the answer.>

The answer is IRL they are apt to spit back.

<I wish I could keep hold of my temper like him.>

And deprive us of all this cheap entertainment?

<Oh and did <sneaky pete> come up with a new Tuna there?>

Yes and no. No and yes. I already had both games, but I didn't realize one of them is already in the database because it is mislabeled as having been played in NY instead of AC. I'll have to do some digging to see if there are others.
