 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Big Tuna> the intro is shaping up nicely. Any chance of adding the important, and probably apocryphal, anecdote that the "hotdog" was invented at the St. Louis World Fair? Also I've been finding pictures of the players for future video. Speaking of which there's a nice photo of <Alejechikine> at the 1935 CLOCK SIMU7L sitting right here in my forum. I'm getting my new "equipment" next wednesday as it turns out- here's hoping I can actually figure out how to work it. |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Iwanchouck>: accept no substitute, or alternate spelling. In a tournament, he either wins every single game or loses every single game- the "Spartan" of chess history. |

| Oct-16-10 | | Open Defence: < jessicafischerqueen: <Deffi> the Kite series is astonishing- how did you get them to be so still whilst they are flying?
Some kind of "air glue"?
It's uncanny you can see every single feather on them.> thats the advantage of a camera with a fast shutter speed, but my neck is all twisted from tracking those birds as they flew above me, i need some physiotherapy i think.. though i wonder if one is allowed to mix physiotherapy with psychotherapy... |

| Oct-16-10 | | crawfb5: <A number of foods are claimed to have been invented at the fair. The most popular claim is that the waffle-style ice cream cone was invented and first sold during the fair. However, it is widely believed that it was not invented at the Fair, but instead, it was popularized at the Fair. Other claims are more dubious, including the hamburger and hot dog (both traditional American foods), peanut butter, iced tea, and cotton candy. It is more likely, however, that these food items were first introduced to mass audiences and popularized by the fair. Dr Pepper and Puffed Wheat cereal were first introduced to a national audience at the fair.> Here are a couple of Library of Congress photos for you: Emil Eisenburg:

Brilliant <Deffi> so did you use the <Anti-aircraft Canon XD Gameboy with increased Graboid>? I believe <Big Tuna> may have recommended this but I can't be sure, because normally I don't have time to finish reading a whole post. <Big>- thanks for the assist on those photos- I have <Louis Lamour> and <Kemeny the Frog> already but the more photos the better obviously. So you finally did it you hacked in to the <Liberry of the Congo>. Can I get in too? Do I need a password? |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: <Big Tuna> I'm getting this message when I click on the photos: <Temporary file open error. Display failed.> Does this mean the Library is "resting," or should I contact the authorities? |
|
| Oct-16-10 | | crawfb5: <Temporary file open error. Display failed.> Sigh. I'd bookmarked them yesterday through another path and got that error this morning. I then did a new search through another path and even checked the links before posting them. I guess the links don't work long-term. The photos are in the "American memories" section of the LoC photo archives, specifically those from one of the Chicago papers. |
