jessicafischerqueen: Your over there regimen sounds salubrious! Interestingly, in Canada we save time by spelling "music and poker" as "moker." Initially we spelled it "poomus" but that sounded a little too declasse, even for us...

<patzer2: For today's Thursday puzzle solution, Tkachiev's 20...Rxe3!! 21. Rxe3 Qc2! uses a deflection followed by a pin to set up a winning Knight fork combination.>

One of the best knight fork combos I have ever seen.

Game Collection: KNIGHT FORKS!

jessicafischerqueen: Here is his "Immortal Post":

<<Dec-20-02 Kulla Tierchen:> Ghoul, I saw your message only just now. I was away all day on a fool's errand, an eighty-mile round trip for nothing with all those Christmas shoppers. I was directed to what I was informed was an <<<Alekhine sale,>>> only to discover when I arrived that the merchandise offered was from the Eveready Battery Company of Cleveland, Ohio. What a swindle! Even now I am still beside myself with rage! To get to your question, Botvinnik was among the very few, along with Karpov, who had the sviazi to refuse to sign that shameful document. They both knew they were safe from retaliation. Botvinnik with that arrogance of his declared that he did not sign joint letters.>

I wish I had more "sviazi."

Phony Benoni: <jfq> A Facebook friend of mine (YES! I HAVE FRIENDS!) has been watching some of your YouTube videos, and was wondering what music was used to <Alexander Alekhine, pt.4>.

The notes on YouTube mention a symphony by Philip Glass, but it sounds like more than one piece was used.

jessicafischerqueen: <Phony Benoni> ok I will try to figure that out.

I wasn't "organized" per se when made that series.

In theory, however, I should be able to tell your friend all the tracks in order since they're all on my hard drive.

Ok back later

  jessicafischerqueen: Ok here it is:

Alexander Alekhine part 4

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzE5...

TRACK ONE: by <Wim Mertens> is the composer but I can't find the name of the song. Also no idea who the singers are. I think his wife sings on a bunch of them, or a slender eunuch.

TRACK TWO: <Rachmaninov> no idea what the name of it is.

TRACK THREE: I'd be surprised if that was actually "music." I think I got it from a sound effects website.

Apologies to Mozart or some other guy if I've got that wrong.

TRACK FOUR: aha! That's one of those one minute "sample downloads" I got from a classical music site.

I have no idea what it is.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Nowadays I actually write down the music I use and even put it in a folder.

Jan-02-11  Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, just wondering...what got you interested in ex-member Kulla Tierchen? ; P
Jan-02-11  Travis Bickle: Jess here's a couple of really early Beatles songs from around 1963. I hope you enjoy.
