jessicafischerqueen: <lamontasaurus> Very happy to have your regular postings here in my forum- especially given how many times I invited you over here, in vain, for years now. Better late than never, certainly.

Have you peeked at Bobby's page lately? I try not to look at it unless I've got some bit of information to post.

At least Bobby's page will be one of eternal interest.

He was the eternal chessmaster.

Feb-15-12  Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: <BOMBA> who is Sam and Max?>

They are Freelance Police. Max is a psychotic rabbity creature and Sam is his canine enabler. http://www.telltalegames.com/samand...

Their exploits are chronicled in a series of adventurey games. The writing is hilarious and creative. Each game takes about 4 hours.

There is a free sample game which gives a taste of the series at http://www.telltalegames.com/downlo.... Nobody can get through this game without frequently collapsing in laughter.

Plus each game has a free demo of the opening scene to give a taste of the mayhem. For example, http://www.telltalegames.com/samand....

Feb-15-12  Boomie: <dakgootje: Is a flapdoodle a drawing or sketch of a pancake?>

Yes. It is the opposite of a waffdoodle, which is superior in every way as our survey last year proved.

Feb-15-12  dakgootje: Pancakes actually won - as per the Grand Breakfast Survey published at blacksburg chessforum

That "election" was marred by ballot stuffing and intimidation. The forces of waffles was depleted by the Naderites who voted for French toast of all things, including our gracious Queen. Bloody Canadians.

Feb-15-12  dakgootje: Canadians don't know anything aboot ballot stuffing.

Perhaps we could have a new waffflap-election every 4 years though. With an independent jury.

jessicafischerqueen: Speaking of mysterious appearances, such as that of Michael Rockefeller and Amelia Earhart, why did <Blacksburg> disappear directly upon completing his pancake/waffle survey?

I don't like it. Did anyone investigate?

Also <TIME BOMB FOR GHOD'S SAKE GET THE HELL OUT OF THE BUILDING BEFORE IT BLOWS>, the kibutzing record will show I voted for Pancakes, not French Toast, whatever that is.

You'll be hearing from my lawyer, <hms123>, as soon as he wraps up closing arguments in the notorious <Sarah Palin vs. Actual Facts> case, currently before the Pork Bend, Utah, Court of Appeal.

Feb-15-12  Boomie: <dakgootje: Canadians don't know anything aboot ballot stuffing.>

You'll notice I've always steered clear of the facile Canadian jokes, eh?

It seems that I am the only one old enuf who lived in NY

to see Bobby play for U.S. Championships

at The Henry Hudson Hotel

where The Manhattan Chess Club was in residence

where Leonard Cohen wrote 'Stranger Song'

where I saw Bobby's miraculous sweep 11-0

where he autographed my MY 60
w/ my teacher's red crayon correction pencil

Feb-16-12  brankat: <lamont> Is the Henry Hudson Hotel still there? Thanks You.
Feb-16-12  dakgootje: <You'll notice I've always steered clear of the facile Canadian jokes, eh?>

The farther away you are from a country - the cheasier jokes you can make :D

So I can't really make facile jokes about Germans, but don't get me started on mounties with maple-syrup hats - or whatever the exact prejudices may be :)

Feb-16-12  Boomie: <dakgootje: <You'll notice I've always steered clear of the facile Canadian jokes, eh?> The farther away you are from a country - the cheasier jokes you can make>

Hmmm....Maybe I should get Netherland tatooed on my nether lands.

Feb-16-12  Boomie: <lamont - Any Jewish boy (i.e. born to a Jewish mother--Jewishness descends matrilinealy-- can be a Bar-Mitzvah.>

Just noticed your fine explanation of Jewishness on Jan 25th.

I heard on the telly that in the Cohen tribe, the lineage decends from the Father. The Cohen were a priestly caste which perhaps explains their patriarchy.

They were one of the lost tribes after Babylon but were recently rediscovered in Zimbabwe of all places. DNA tests showed that the Lemba tribe were more Cohen than the Cohens in Israel. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lemba_.... The Lemba have continued many Jewish traditions from 2500 years ago but I'm not sure if they qualify as Jews at this point.

Thanks again for your scholarly exposition.

Feb-16-12  Boomie: <brankat: <lamont> Is the Henry Hudson Hotel still there?>

Is this the beastie in question? Built in 1928 by the daughter of JP Morgan.

My peeps will meet your peeps.

I plan to settle out of court in a dark alley in the dead of night.

Feb-16-12  hms123: Why would you be herring from your lawyer? It sounds fishy to me. Is that some kind of Canadian humour?
