| Jun-09-13 | | Travis Bickle: Jess they just don't make movies like this anymore. : 0 The first time I seen this film I was hiding under my seat in the theater & I spilled my bucket of popcorn! I had nightmares for weeks! Such Special Effects, such great storylines, such fantastic spine chilling terror!! I miss the days when movies were movies. Jess at least you & I still appreciate these Academy Award Winners and still watch these classics! P.S. Hikaru Nakamura's grandfather had a speaking part, (Japanese), in this great film! ; P GHIDRAH, THE THREE-HEADED MONSTER

| Jun-09-13 | | Travis Bickle: Hey Jess, in the early days of Beatlemania EMI records thought they had to package The Beatles in German for The German audience. | | jessicafischerqueen: Danke Schoen, <Travis>. hehe WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS and MONSTER ZERO are two separate movies! I'd like to see them on a double bill at a "drive in" except somebody killed all the "drive in theatres." WHY? |
|
| Jun-09-13 | | Travis Bickle: <jessicafischerqueen: ..."hehe WAR OF THE GARGANTUAS and MONSTER ZERO are two separate movies!> Yes but they are even better when spliced together and shown at the same time, LOL! <jessicafischerqueen: ..."I'd like to see them on a double bill at a "drive in" except somebody killed all the "drive in theatres."
WHY?"> Because they're miserable and they want to make people like you & me miserbale too so we can't watch King Kong vs Godzilla & all the other great film masterpieces!! ; P |

 | | jessicafischerqueen: Speaking of obsessively trying to find every single thing on one topic all at the same time, I'm just finishing downloading every single professional fight by <Muhammed Ali>. At the same time, I've been downloading every single documentary I can find on him. My plan is to watch all the fights in sequence first. I'm already up to 1973, but NO SPOILERS please because I only know the results of a few of the fights ahead of time. Then I will watch all of the documentaries.
Then I will know about <Muhammed Ali>. What a fascinating character.
However, although I've looked, I haven't been able to track down the notorious, but very rare, film <Muhammed Ali vs. The Chicago Black Hawks>. Don't tell me who won!
I can't stand spoilers. |

Wow, check out the *incredible* <DOUBLE BLUNDER> at the end of the Round 20 game Grischuk vs Pomomariov! http://chessbomb.com/o/2013-wbccham... Grischuk blundered back his extra piece with 16 0-0??, based on the <SKEWER> down the e-file 16 ... ♕e7x♗e2! 17 ♖f1-e1. Ponomariov resigned(!!), as Grischuk expected. Both of these 2700s overlooked that Black has the resource 17 ... ♕e2-b5!= and the Black b5-queen now <PROTECTS> the Black e8-rook instead of <INTERPOSING> on e2! Egads!! |

Another huge blunder by Ponomariov, in Round 24 versus NNTS. http://chessbomb.com/o/2013-wbccham... Pono (Black) wanted to advance his passed a4-pawn, which was blocked by his a3-bishop. So he played 49 ... ♗a3-b2?? which <LEFT BEHIND> his b4-rook and the <UNDEFENDED> Black b4-rook then dropped off to the simple <DISCOVERED ATTACK> 50 f4-f5+! ♔g6xf5 51 ♖h4x♖b4 , winning a *whole* rook. |

| Jun-10-13 | | playground player: <Jessicafischerqueen>, <Travis Bickle> Ah, the drive-in! Oh, the loss! Where else could you see classics like THE TWITCH OF THE DEATH NERVE ("Terrible news! Filippo Donati's just been murdered!" Only they cut out the bit telling you who Filippo was, so maybe the news wasn't quite so terrible...) Immortal double bills like I DRINK YOUR BLOOD and I EAT YOUR SKIN ("So ends Doctor Zandor's evil plan to conquer the world with an invincible army of zombies..." Eh? How come he never mentioned it until the very end of the movie?) And the inimitable ZARDOZ, with Sean Connery and John Alderton and director John Boorman making total fools of themselves. All gone! <Ou sont las neiges d'antan?> Jess, Book #5 of my Bell Mountain series, <The Fugitive Prince>, is now on sale. In fact, it's been out for at least a week but no one told me. Force or trick all your friends into buying it. |

click for larger viewHere we have an example of an incredible <DOUBLE BLUNDER> made by two 2700-strength(!) players. White (Grischuk) played 16 0-0??, slyly intending to keep his extra e2-bishop by using the threat of a <PIN> down the e-file. That is 16 ... ♕e7x♗e2! 17 ♖f1-e1. (VARIATION)
16 ... ♕e7x♗e2! 17 ♖f1-e1
