May-07-11  Open Defence: just one thing , I'm not sure the Rossolimo variation is part of the Open Sicilian, since d4 cxd4 is seldom played...

jessicafischerqueen: <Deffi> I believe you are correct. The fact that the variation does lead to an "open game" more often than not led me astray.

  jessicafischerqueen: <Kevin>! Is that you?

lol did you make a separate account to keep track of your bets?

Good idea.

I have only one bet in the works- 200 bucks to win on Kamsky to win the match against Topalov.

I was disappointed however as Kamsky got a lot of "late money" and the odds aren't nearly so good as when I made the bet.

May-07-11  Boomie: <jessicafischerqueen: I'm afraid there'll be no biography of <Schlecter> from me.

It takes so long to research and put these things together that I'm only doing biographies of fierce attacking players.

<Carl> was a great man- great player, well loved by all- but like so many from the "Austrian tradition" he was a positional drawmeister.>

Like so much common knowledge, this impression of Schlechter is wrong. He got the nickname "Drawchter" at age 19 when he drew all 10 games in a match with Marco Polo. However he was a superb tactician when the opportunities presented.

His story is very dramatic and lends itself perfectly to your format. The match with Lasker is one of the most exciting ever for those who root for the underdog. The pathos of his demise makes for a heart wrenching finale. Plus I believe we can land Depp as the young Carl and De Niro for the later years.

Alas, the boobie season has disappointed. We wait for new seasons of the gems on my list.

In Plano Sightseer has already begun and the first episode is terrific.

The Cloture reassembles in June and Syra Wedgiekick is the bomb as always.

Perhaps you didn't have time to watch a couple of series from days of yore which I recommended.

Sherlock Holmes with Jeremy Brett is on my top ten list of all time. Here you can find the order the episodes appeared. I know how you like order in your life. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sherlo...(1984_TV_series). Hmmm. That link don't hunt. Anyhoo you can find the episode list within a few clicks of that. A lot of the Holmes shows are on Jew Tube.

Cadfael with Derek Jacobi is one of my favorites although very few were made, thirteen I think. "The Virgin in the Ice" is one of the finest shows I've ever seen. It is spooky good. Here is a far too short list of the shows. http://epguides.com/Cadfael/guide.s...

And the U-Tubal of The Virgin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wVrE...

jessicafischerqueen: <Tim> I didn't forget any of them because I saved them all on a "notepad file."

I watched every <Jeremy Sillman> episode in order- there are a lot of them. He's an even better actor than he is a chess book reviewer. It took a lot of courage for the BBC to cast a non-Tibetan in the role of <Sherpa Holmes>.

I also watched every <Cadbury Crunch>, starring the great <Bo Derek> as the skeptical monk detective.

Possibly he was the inspiration for the later detective Monk, played of course by the equally great <Tony Shellfish>.

I don't care how many Guinea hoods <Deffi> sends out of the wood work, <DeNiro> ruined the best piece of
