<Hozza> Thanks again for yet another update on your movie selections- I have faithfully recorded all of your previous selections but I have not had time to see many of them. The last batch in which I did see all your selections was the one that included "Wild Tales" which was an Argentinian outing, if memory serves. That movie took a big bite out of me and I regard it to be one of the best I've seen- I'm actually a big fan of South American horror/thriller/drama films and I must have seen over a 100 of them by now. I was intrigued to see <Ben Wheatley> cropping up in your picks and good eye on that most controversial of POMMIE filmmakers. I am intrigued by all of his outings, which range from the "What the heck was that" to "This is truly profound" depending on which of his films I watch. I think he is certainly the best representative of POMMIE LAND in terms of making "film as art." He is a true artist. I sawr one of the Wheatley films you just recced but I'll be sure to catch the one I haven't seen. You recced two in the last batch. As for the MOONLIGHT I read the IMDB description and it looked to have every element that would likely tear the guts out of me. Therefore I will get it and watch it. Great art should not only entertain, it must also tear the guts out of you. Great art resembles a Grizzly Bear in this respect. Ok back later brah I just yesterday finished a 60 hour labor camp (really) at work but I have a very light schedule for the next fourty days and fourty nights (again, really- oddly enough.) After that I leave Korea forever.
I hope all is well with you mate and asI'll be posting much more regularly now that I have free time. |

<Steamed Colleagues> I will get to your back posts anon, gentlemen so please be patient. Tonight I will go to a Bangladeshi restaurant with a Bangladeshi family. Well they are just friends but they have been like a family to me this past year. They live upstairs. |

<tbon> Aha- I just now saw this since I went to your forum first to comment: <Hi Jessie! After I commented on The Beatles being at The Manson trial.. I did a search & found this on Lennon being subpoenaed for the defense of the Manson trial..> Amazing. That message board you link is full of important information on this intriguing topic. |
|
| Jan-20-18 | | Travis Bickle: Jess, I remember seeing all 4 Beatles at the trial on the news a long time ago.. |
|
| Jan-20-18 | | Boomie: Everything you ever wanted to know about "Helter Skelter". No Beatle went to the trial, btw. http://rocknrollgraffiti.blogspot.c... "Beatle Lennon Defends 'Helter Skelter,'" The story was published in the Friday, Nov. 6, 1970 edition of the Bay Beacon student newspaper. One of their hardest rocking numbers, "Helter Skelter" was entirely composed by McCartney, although John Lennon was also credited as songwriter. At that time, many assumed the Lennon-McCartney composing credit meant that Lennon was responsible for the lyrics while McCartney composed the music. When I wrote my story, Lennon was being subpoenaed to appear as a defense witness at the trial. Lennon told the Associated Press: "I'm a peace-loving man. If I were a praying man, I'd pray to be delivered from people like Charles Manson who claim to know better than I do what my songs are supposed to mean." Reporter Donald White also quoted Lennon as saying, "Why didn't Manson listen to our 'Revolution?' 'Revolution' clearly states my position on violence. 'When you talk about destruction, you can count me out!'" Lennon didn't testify at the trial which ended on Jan. 25, 1971. |

<Last month, a Sunderland fan was ejected from the Stadium of Light after he was thought to have defecated on his seat - police later said he was merely drunk.> The two activities aren't mutually exclusive, AFAIK |

I never get invited to the cool parties... |

I secretly listened to your epic 5 page solo playlist on Kibbutzer Kafe last week. Plenty of nuggets too- your post of the record version of <Bang a Gong> ended up with me listening to a bunch of live T-Rex performances and a documentary on <Mark Bolen.>> Hey JessieRocks, I really like Marc Bolan & T.Rex.. Here's some weird things about Marc Bolan.. A lot of his songs lyrics have to do with cars.. & Marc R.I.P. died in a car crash... T.Rex - Jeepster (live)
