There is no excuse needed for talking about Scarlett's BAZOOMBAS.

  jessicafischerqueen: <dak> interesting name. Are they related to the "New Amsterdam" Plantys, or are they "new money"?
Jun-17-11  dakgootje: It means 'enough plants' in Dutlish, and is the New Garden Shopping Experience in town - after my 'Dakkies Thai Ties and Thai Rice: looking good, while your mouth burns' went out of business.

I aim for the niche-market of terrace comfort for spies and professional hecklers.

Jun-17-11  Once: <Jess> Thanks for the herding cats video. Very funny!

It might be my imagination, but it does seem as if we might be getting somewhere. I don't mind if people flounce off, as long as we lower the temperature.

Heck, I don't even mind if people have a go at me. A price worth paying.

Maybe the best thing is a period of silence from all of us. Let the argument burn itself out.

Jun-17-11  Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, check out my posts on The Kibitzers page, hahahaha!!!

I have a movie you have to see! Once Upon A Time In America directed by Sergio Leone, starring Robert DeNiro & James Woods. It's one of the best films I ever seen!!

Jun-17-11  Travis Bickle: Jess here's a really great song from George Harrison, from 1 of his solo albums.

Jun-17-11  crawfb5: We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his pawns with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This game shall gentle his condition;
And kibitzers at home now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here, And hold their ratings cheap whiles any speaks
That played with us upon Saint Crispin's tourney.

I have a fern his name is Robert... on Sundays he sings in a Led Zeppelin cover band...

most of the fans try to ambush him, not for his autograph but they mistake him for *ahem* another type of *plant*

  jessicafischerqueen: <Big> Bad news! <H> is spreading rumors about you all over the website again.

Don't worry though, I just posted a stern warning over in his forum.

Wonderful poem there- I didn't know Richard V was a chess master.

On the subject of poems, you might also be interested to know that over at the "Chess Banter" chat board, <Howard> said his poem about knitting was superior to your poem about Richard V.

I believe his exact phrase was

"<Big's> verse does not rise above the level of an average tobacconist."

I thought you might want to know these things. Hey- I'm not trying to stir up trouble, I'm just reporting the facts as I find them.

  Open Defence: In the old days we used to drive annoying kibitzers out to a kibbutz in the Negev desert, no questions asked....
Jun-17-11  Travis Bickle: Jess this may be a foolish question but where is the Chess Banter board room? ; P

  jessicafischerqueen: <Travis> on a rare frivolous note, <chess banter> is actually one of the best places on the internet to find wonderful resources. For example, that's where I found <Alexander Rossolimo's> mini biography of his father <Nicolas Rossolimo>. I even left him a message, but I don't know if he'll ever be back.

You can also find posts by prominent chess historians and outright lunatics there. Here is the home page:

  jessicafischerqueen: <Deffi> we'll have to ask <Annie> for confirmation on that- she just moved, and if I'm not mistaken she is now happily residing in a breezy "yurt" in the middle of the Mighty Negev.
Jun-18-11  Travis Bickle: <jessicafischerqueen: Yes she's quite a dish. A little tall for my taste- I think I prefer my lesbians short, brunette and dumpy like <Bjork>. Bwaaaahahahahahaha!!!> Actually she's not that tall she comes up to my chin and I'm 6' 1" tall. ; P

Jun-18-11  notyetagm: Karjakin vs Nisipeanu, 2011

31 a2-a4?

click for larger view

Karjakin playing White has just blundered his advantage with 31 a2-a4?.

What move should Nisipeanu playing Black have played here?

(VARIATION)
31 ... ♖e2-e4!=

click for larger view

Black should simply(!) have <REINFORCED THE PIN> with 31 ... ♖e2-e4!=, with equality.

The chess engine stockfish-2.1.1 at chessbomb.com gives the following line as a mere <0.04> advantage for White:

http://chessbomb.com/o/2011-bazna/0...

[ 31. ... Re4 32. Rhd1 Nxb4 33. Rd8+ Kf7 34. cxb4 Rbxb4+ 35. Kc3 Rxa4 36. Rd7+ Kg6 37. Kd3 Reb4 38. Rf1 Rb3+ 39. Kc2 Rg3 40. Rff7 Ra2+ 41. Kb1 Rgxg2 ]

Instead, Black returned the blunder with 31 ... ♘d3x♗b4?.

(CONTINUATION)
31 ... ♘d3x♗b4?

click for larger view

An amazing case of chess blindness by Karjakin and Nisipeanu, this sequence 31 a2-a4? ♘d3x♗b4?.
