Based Balls hab been berry good to me.
An astonishing number of players have come from the Dominican Republic (but not Haiti, go finger). Venezuela has produced some great players. Today we are seeing more Japanese and Korean players. I'm afraid Basic Bawls is spreading like a bad virus. There is a rich history. Ty Cobb was a lot of things. He set records for hitting, and not only the ball but players on both teams. But none of that can diminish his skill as a story teller. Here he describes the first time he faced Walter Johnson, one of the all-time great pitchers. On August 2, 1907, I encountered the most threatening sight I ever saw in the ball field. He was a rookie, and we licked our lips as we warmed up for the first game of a doubleheader in Washington. Evidently, manager Pongo Joe Cantillon of the Nats had picked a rube out of the cornfields of the deepest bushes to pitch against us. ... He was a tall, shambling galoot of about twenty, with arms so long they hung far out of his sleeves, and with a sidearm delivery that looked unimpressive at first glance. ... One of the Tigers imitated a cow mooing, and we hollered at Cantillon: 'Get the pitchfork ready, Joe—your hayseed's on his way back to the barn.' ... The first time I faced him, I watched him take that easy windup. And then something went past me that made me flinch. The thing just hissed with danger. We couldn't touch him. ... every one of us knew we'd met the most powerful arm ever turned loose in a ball park." |

|
| Aug-10-18 | | Dr Winston OBoogie: I hope you're as disgusted as I am with the kibitzing on Daniel's player page?? Go read <that page>. It's been two weeks now and it's the usual @#$%* idiots. If you have any influence <at all> use it. |
|
| Aug-10-18 | | thegoodanarchist: <Mark> your lack of discernment is disappointing. It is inaccurate to lump everyone together. As I showed, someone tried to take advantage of Daniel's passing in order to carry out a personal vendetta against another user. I stood up for what is right. I stood against a manipulative power play by a fairly new member of this community. And I was the target of a rather disgusting attempt at character assassination because of it. My only regret is that the whole thing played out on Daniel's page. And you, sir, given your history, really have no grounds to criticize. First remove the log from thine own eye. Then you will see clearly to remove the mote from your neighbor's eye. |

| Aug-10-18 | | Dr Winston OBoogie: Jim's right. And I apologize for swearing in a woman's forum but this needs sorting out now. I've always looked at, thought of and respected Annie and Jess <more> than the men here (bigger balls than most of you!)
going all the way back to 2012. I've had private communication with you both. And <both> of you can quite easily confirm I've not emailed either of you, I've not been blowing whistles, I've kept personal s--t elsewhere because I don't want to add to the trouble, but it's been going on 3 weeks and people are running riot. I won't mention names because it's so obvious, and also.. Regardless of what's gone on this site before I'm absolutely <<horrified>> people would use a man's death to attack their perceived enemies!! I just can't believe how heartless they are!? |

Oh I meant Dr Winston. |

Oh I meant Dr Winston> Do you have the same sense of humour as Daniel? Lol. I'm only joking Miss F/Daniels mom. Some comments have truly sickened me over the last few weeks. I can't keep quiet forever. I'll leave it at that :) |

<Doctor O'Footy> I'm mainly hoping the site will not go down forever and that's just about as far as I've gotten. I am still gutted that <Daniel> is gone and I'm on the point of tears several times every day because of it. I don't really care about what fighting is happening at the moment. I'm certainly not going to take part in any of it. This isn't my website. I am simply relieved that it looks like it will continue to be *a* website. I spent all week madly saving my work and the work of others so that we don't end up losing 12 years worth of chess history work in a moment. Also, look on the bright side.
FOOTY it has started!!!!!!
<Wolverhampton Wanderers> good Heavens what is next- maybe <Derby County> for the next year's promotions? Anyways, I just finished saving my day's viewing in advance for tomorrow, using the TIVO function on my TV. I saved <Wolverhampton's> match in advance. At any rate, let's just be patient and in the mean time, we can enjoy each others' company. |

| Aug-11-18 | | Dr Winston OBoogie: Man City or Liverpool for the league title. Cardiff for the FA Cup..( I had a dream they won so I'm going to have to stick with it - plus I put a fiver on them) and I think Juventus will win the Champions League providing they keep Ronaldo fit. Otherwise Barcelona. Jess. You feel like I feel only I feel a little bit worse because we used to argue with each other. We've both spoken privately about certain subjects regarding this site - although not for a <long time> might I add - and we've both (And not just me and you) said we're not happy about certain things.. Daniel dies and it hits you like a brick! What we were complaining about is just absurd and pathetic, unimportant, a man just died. I know how you must feel. John Lennon once said "Everyone loves you when you're 6ft under". He was right. One of the most upsetting things to see was people using his death to attack their perceived enemies, I've never been as shocked by a <<doctors>> behaviour in my entire life, never ever ever ever ever. Man City or Liverpool for the league. |

<Doctor> Yep we have been through a lot together- it's been years now. Mainly I feel guilty about the (many) times I criticized <Daniel> both privately and in public. What a drudge I must have seemed to him, certainly at times, at any rate. He didn't always do things the way I would have liked, but how can he please everyone? He was his own man and he was a unique and loving man. He loved chess he loved this website and he loved us, even though our squabbling would have driven a less patient man batty. <Man City> or <Liverpool> sure- I'll stick with my <Spurs> but as my forum title suggests, I'll back the reds over City. I think <Colonel Klink> is a wonderful gaffer. He's the kind of gaffer the troops will follow into battle. It's too bad <Waiter! Mo Salad over here!> had such a sad end to one of the most exciting EPL debut runs I've ever seen. He'll be back!
I'm on for <Cardiff> as well then. You might remember I punted for Wales and all things Welsh in the past. You can't be wishing that <Gareth Bale> would have stayed at White Hart Lane though, any more than you could wish <Romulan Lukaku> would have stayed at Everton. You can't blame the player for these kinds of career decisions. I did think though, that what <Spurs> might be missing in their current lineup/philosophy is some of that macho bravery that <Bale> can deliver, when he's not injured that is. WHEN THOSE SPURS, GO MARCHING IN...
And I'll support <Hozza> with <Derby> because it's time they had another chance in the big circus eh? They have heart and now they have <Saint Frank> too... |

| Aug-11-18 | | Alien Math: Just seems like a few short whiles ago that we found this site, it's a feeling of vertigo each time I realise he won't be logging in again to update us on one of his changes to the site code, or explain one of the clues that appeared to be broken. I've sent a letter to Thanh, I don't know what else to say besides he will be missed |
