Apr-02-07 | | jepflast: I can set up a forum now. Shall it be <Elixir>'s suggestion? I was considering that as well. |
Apr-02-07 | | Alekhinelover: Are you from Kutztown,PA? I am now a senior at Lehigh which is very close to Kutztown. Anyway, it's not related to chess. |

I sure am! Also, I am a graduate of Lehigh (B.S. 1978 - Metallurgy and Materials Engineering)! It's a small world. Where are you from?>
I am from Burma, currently a chemical engineering senior at Lehigh, with a minor in materials science and engineering. I came to the US for collge. Since I am graduating in May, I am looking for a job now. I play chess often but am not good at it. My pleasure to meet you. Yeah, it's such a small world. |
Apr-03-07
 | | kutztown46: Pleased to meet you, <Alekhinelover> and good luck with your job search. When I started at Lehigh in the fall of 1974, I had visions of being a chemical engineer because I was good at math and chemistry. I placed out of freshman chemistry based on achievement test scores, so I was foolish enough to take a sophomore level Ch.E. course in my freshman year, lacking the needed background in differential equations. I ended up dropping the course and deciding to take up metallurgy instead! |
Apr-03-07 | | Alekhinelover: <kutztown46> Well, metallurgy is also a very good field. ChE is just broader. I took the first ChE course in my sophomore year and at first there were about 60 students but by the end of the semester, only a little more than 30 left. Some left the major in junior year and it's still the hardest undergraduate major of all. Best regards. |
Apr-03-07 | | Dionyseus: <Kutztwon46> I'll take up 24. Qxc2 Bc4 25. Rd1 a5 26. gxf4 |
Apr-07-07 | | RandomVisitor: It would be nice if we had a 25.Rd1 <Qf7> forum. This move needs some exposure and many people might think that 25...a5 is our only move after 25.Rd1. |
Apr-08-07 | | Elixir of Life: <kutztown46> In reply to your post on the main forum, I think that, yes, we need separate forums for Qf7. It is looking like it is the runaway main choice. |
Apr-10-07 | | Artar1: Okay, you can put me down for e3. |
Apr-15-07 | | Elixir of Life: Dear <Kutztown>:
Our game seems to be starting to get into the phrase of transitioning from the middle-game to the endgame. We therefore need a lot of analysis on possible endgames that might result. We need a permanent forum on the endgame, and I think that we should start seeking people who can host the forums. Some choices are: <Tabanus> <Boomie> <TheDestruktor> <GoldenKnight> and some other people. |
Apr-17-07 | | Elixir of Life: <Kutztown> Suggestion for temporary forums: Devide the <27...Qf7> forum into two forums: <28. a4> and <28. exd5> |
Apr-23-07 | | Artar1: This is my work in process of the Teft endgame. It gives the best chances for a Black win of any line I have seen. I am posting these lines now, unfinished, for others to look at and to analyze. I believe Yury should have played 29.Bh3. That move was the strongest test of our position. 29.a4 Qe6 30.Qxc4 dxc4 31.Bd5 Qxd5 32.Rxd5 Rc8 33.e6 Kf8 34.Bc3 Nc1 35.Bb2 click for larger view[35.Bd2 Na2 36.b5 Ke7 37.Rd7+ Kxe6 38.Rxa7 c3 39.Be3 c2 40.Rxg7 Rc3 41.Bf4 Rf3 ] click for larger view35...Nd3 36.Bc3 Ke7 37.Rd7+ Kxe6 38.Rxg7
