Domdaniel: Thanks, one and all, for the Caissar (*bursts into tears, confesses that it was a word-bot doing the so-called 'writing' all along...*)

Meanwhile, I'd like to cast a vote for Open Defence aka Red October (aka Saint Deffi the Wise). For contributions to the construction industry, or whatever. Thank you.

I'd have to second this opinion-- I was unaware of <KingG> collections until the Caissars, which may in my case be the most valuable single aspect of this year's awards.

I voted <suenteus po> same as last year, due to his work in constructing, and organizing others with constructing, comprehensive tournament and match collections which are invaluable to the chess historian.

<KingG> collections are indeed grand, as <SD> suggests--- very detailed historical/analytical information is given along with the games.

Also, in case anyone has forgotten, the greatest <tactics-oriented> collections are by <Noteyetagm>, and <chessmoron> has an amazing collection of <Olympiad games collections>

Domdaniel: Maybe, heh, the <Games Collection> Caissar should also be split up.

Best Traditional GC: KingG

Best GC comedy: ughaibu

Best GC newcomer: JessicaFischerQueen

Best historical GC ... etc.

My actual vote stays with Jessica, despite her demurs, on 'newcomer' grounds. And I'm an English fan. The opening, anyway.

Dec-22-08  hms123: most constructive: Open defence
best collection: KingG, suenteus po
best kibbutzer: jessicafischerqueen

Dec-22-08  malthrope: <WannaBe> - Although I'm quite honored for the votes and nomination for "Best Historian". I just did a careful recount and I get this...

For the four main contenders: <Karpova>, <Calli>, <brankat> & <malthrope>

Voters and votes:

<Ragh> for 2 others (see below)

<TheAlchemist> for <Karpova>

<JFQ> for <brankat>

<Auglav> for 1 other

<thebribri8> for <Calli>

<TD> for <malthrope>

<valiant> for <Karpova>, <Calli> & <brankat> and 2 others

<hms123> for <malthrope>

<WWP> for <malthrope>

<metatron2> for <brankat>

<malthrope> for <Karpova>, <Calli> & <brankat> plus 1 other

<tpstar> for <Calli>

<suenteus po 147> for 1 other

Others (no one received more that 2 votes):

<Resignation Trap> x x

<whiteshark> x x

<Petrosianic> x

<percyblakeney> x

<Benzol> x

<SBC> x

<nescio> x

<<<All Others>>> 9 votes in total (note: no one received more than 2 votes).

The above vote count for "Best Historian" is:

<brankat> received 4 votes (JFQ, valiant, metatron2 & malthrope)

<Karpova> received 3 votes (TheAlchemist, valiant & malthrope)

<Calli> received 3 votes (thebribri8, malthrope & tpstar)

<malthrope> received 3 votes (technical draw, hms123 & Woody Wood Pusher)

PS: <NakoSonorense> had a vote for <malthrope> but rescinded it and I didn't vote for myself.

Should not <brankat> have won? What did I miss? Just wondering... :)

Holiday Cheers, - Mal

PS: My official votes for the "Most Constructive Kibitzer" and "Best Game Collection" to follow shortly... ;)

Nope you won officially.

When mutliple votes are cast by the same voter in a given category, the weight of the vote is converted to a fraction.

So, you in fact won with

<3.0> votes.

<Branko> garnered <2.66 (repeater)> in total.

Dec-22-08  malthrope: Jess -- all seeing, all knowing writes to inform me:

<JFQ: <Mal>

Nope you won officially.

OK - I fully understand that (I was always a 'wiz' at fractions!). ~lol~ If those are indeed the official "Caissar Awards" rules then the 'fractions' favor me! ~lol~ Thanks Jess for explaining that... :) Woot Mal! :^)

Then I must now "Thank You" all! :) And, if I may -- I'd like to share this prestigious and coveted award for "Best Historian" with <brankat>, <Karpova> and <Calli> -- 3 of the BEST! :)))

Moving right along...

Best Game Collection(s): <KingG>, <Benzol> & <suenteus po 147>

Most Constructive Kibitzer(s): <brankat>, <achieve> & <SwitchingQuylthulg>

PS: That is all until tomorrow when our final votes for the last two caterpillars are cast! ;)
