  Domdaniel: <Best Analyst> -- <LMAJ>

This is not a joke. I don't know if Mr Goldsby is even aware of the Caissars, but I hereby nominate him. He's a master-strength player who puts a huge amount of work into analysis and annotation.

Since <Mateo> and <Eyal> went into (hopefully temporary) retirement, there hasn't been a really good analyst in live games. AJ and I managed to work together for a while without squabbling during one of the World games too. In an engine-dominated chess world, he's one of the few still producing human analysis.

Like all human analysis, you can pick holes in it if you try hard enough. I'm not sure why anyone would bother. I've been critical of Mr Goldsby myself at times, sometimes in a way that was "cruel and strange", to quote the man himself.

Water under the bridge. An analyst nomination for LMAJ, please, maestro.

OK, he doesn't much approve of Caissars and subscribes to some version of the "same old names every year" argument.

I'm nominating him for two quite different reasons. One is the extraordinary diligence with which he answered a query I had. The other is his longstanding work with Liveratings, which has helped all kinds of people. Especially the planet's eight other *statistic fans with a sense of the absurd*.

<Most Helpful>: <frogbert>.

Jan-01-12  hms123: <Wannabe>

<Best Analyst>: User: dzechiel for setting the example of what good analysis is at the POTD game. He has long set the standard for honest and careful human analysis.

<Best Historian>: <jessicafischerqueen> for the most astounding set of videos on this or any other site.

I propose this too. Reason: brilliance. Brilliance and willingness to learn, which is a rare combination.

HeMateMe: I would like to nominate <PhonyBenoni> for a lifetime achievement Caissar. His posts are always interesting, always good stuff, and he's been doing it a long time.

It will take a little bit of searching to nominate in all of these categories.

Best written post: also <TPstar>

Funniest Kibitzer: <WannaBe>

Most Helpful: <FSR>

Best Analyst: also <LMAJ>. as DomD mentions, although AJ isn't as strong as many others here, he does put in a lot of effort and gets a dialogue going on games.

Best Historian <Phony Benoni>

Best avatar: <BVer> I think this photo is Michael Caine, from a 60s movie, not sure.

Best User Name: <MostlyAverageJoe>

Jan-01-12  technical draw: Best avatar: <WannaBe>..
Jan-01-12  hms123: <Wannabe> I was originally going to nominate <DrMal> as <best analyst> because he was head and shoulders the best I have seen around here in years, but now that he has left the site, I am not sure that it makes a lot of sense. This is not to be construed as a negative comment on <DrMal>: His analysis was unbelievably good and well worthy of a <Caissar> award. Given the chance I might well still vote for him.
Jan-01-12  hms123: <WannaBe>

<technical draw: Best avatar: <WannaBe>..> I think this might be grounds for nominating <TD> as <funniest kibitzer>.

-;)

Jan-01-12  Shams: If <DrMAL> wins, I'll let him know. In fact, consider this my vote for him, please. <DrMAL> for best analyst.

WannaBe: <hms123> I think <technical draw> is 'semi' serious, if he was joking, he'd nominate me for Funniest Kibitzer.

Also, <hms123> & <Shams>, I will not count your posts as votes, not until voting have officially started.

Just want to make this clear, before all the furs start flying again.

Jan-01-12  technical draw: Let me make myself perfectly clear: I hereby nominate <WannaBe> for best avatar. Clear enough?

Also, I am not a crook.....

WannaBe: <hms123> In regards to <DrMal>, he was last seen/login this year, but his last kibitzn' was in 2006. I will put him down as nomination. (I can't deny the nomination of a valid CG member.)

But it will be up to the voting to determine if his past analysis is deserving of vote(s) for 2011.

Not sure what you mean. User: DrMAL 's last kibitzing was on November 18, 2011.

Jan-02-12  TheFocus: <FRS> is right about November 18,2011. Many of us carried on conversation with him.

I nominate <DRMal> for Best Analyst.

Jan-02-12  Shams: I'd like to nominate myself for "Most Redoubtable". As is pointed out on a West Wing episode, nobody knows what the word means anyway.

FSR: <Shams> is surely the Most Redoubtable person on CG.com. An excellent nomination. But I have never heard of this <FRS> to whom <TheFocus> refers. I hereby nominate <FRS> as "Least Redoubtable."

  FSR: <Phony Benoni> I doubt that.
