WannaBe: <perfidious> Hehheheh I was in on of those pools, number of years; lots of fun, only 5 bux/week to enter, no one gets 'hurts'. And the house/bar buys you a beer when you participate. (They know you will sit there for just a 'few' more cold ones) Now, those elimination pools on

OhioChessFan: Stupid, stupid, stupid play call. Absolutely unbelievable. My theory: Carroll wanted Wilson to be the hero.
Feb-01-15  Jim Bartle: What an interception by Vinatieri! (You can handle it, <Piggy>.)
Feb-01-15  Mating Net: Thanks <Wannabe> for hosting yet another sporting event live chat.

<Chancho> why the hate on Brady? I think you meant to say that Peyton Manning fails to show up in the big games.

Feb-01-15  Shams: <OCF> Carroll doesn't call the plays.
Feb-01-15  Jim Bartle: That shot of Sherman watching the interception, his expression changing, is going to become one of the stock NFL clips. I didn't notice him looking for Erin Andrews.

  chancho: <Mating Net> No hate.

I was just getting mad that he was not playing like he is capable.

I'm from Massachusetts, man.

chancho: That game had ups and downs like you cannot believe. and back to back miracles.

(Seattle catch, Pats interception.)

I'm glad the Pats won.

Feb-01-15  Mating Net: Now I understand Boriqua, thanks.

chancho: 4 Super bowl rings... right next to Bradshaw and Montana.

Aaaah yes....

Feb-02-15  technical draw: I think Russell Wilson caught what we say in Spanish "el frio olímpico" (the olympic chill). It's when the game is won and the player blunders in the last seconds because of nerves. Great melee at the end though.

WannaBe: Phew, busy morning... Screwin' around with Ubuntu 14.04.01 all day.

How about "Seattle is almost unbeatable when they defer the ball to the second half"? Sheer 'genius' of me.

How about my prediction that the Under "looked" good, with less than a minute to go before the half? Another sheer 'genius'.

(But to my 'credit', I did say the over for the game looks good =)

How about my 'firm' prediction at half-time that Seattle will win?

Okay, my arm is getting tired of patting meself on the back. =)

Feb-03-15  Shams: <WannaBe> In about a year or so I'm going to build a dual-boot Windows/Linux laptop. Do you know much about doing that?

I charge 300 Chess Bux an hour, 5 hrs minimum.

WannaBe: <JB> I really don't think partitioning the hard drive into two and installing Linux is that big a deal.

But if you think it's a huge event... =)

Feb-03-15  Shams: <WannaBe> What I wish to do is probably quite simple for you but not for me.

I'd rather be done with Windows altogether but as you know so much chess software only runs on that platform.

It won't be for a while, like I said, so I'll wait to ask you more detailed questions. But this is basically what I want:

>Laptop with high RAM (8 GM+) and decent processor speed. (I don't need a fancy graphics card or anything.)

>Easy to use Linux distro on one drive, Windows on the other

>Anything else you tell me I should get.

I'd love a fast boot loader so it doesn't take me forever to switch OSes.

My questions are several. Assuming my laptop comes with some Windows OS on it, can I repartition it safely? Or should I do clean installs of both OSes? What boot loader should I use? What Linux distro should I use (I'm a command line newbie). For that matter, which Windows should I use?

Any suggestions would be welcome.

WannaBe: <Shams> Give moi a day or two and I will write up (nicely detailed) descriptions and post it on your forum.
Feb-03-15  Shams: <WannaBe> Thanks, that'd be an awesome guide for me. Much appreciated.
