WannaBe: In case I forgot, congrats to them Lady Bruins. =)) U. Mich (69-63) won, but the last spread I saw was -6.5, so if you took UConn w/ spread, you got very lucky, if you bet on them U. Mich, I feel bad; the O/U was 148.5

WannaBe: ¡Olé! ¡Olé! this is what I see for "¡Olé! ¡Olé!" (game of the day Mar-13-2026) I also know this issue have been around for a while, and it's not that important, in IT term, it is a level 'C', cosmetic fix. But I just wish to report it again. Can CG.com unify this ...

Fusilli: Example of mouse slip. ICC 5-minute game. Someone v Fusilli.

So, the strange/crazy opening that white played led to enormous black advantage by move 10 already. Here:

... I picked up my queen to play 10...Qd4. But then my stupid mouse decided, as soon as I picked up the queen, that I was dropping it already, so I found myself playing the ridiculous 10...Qd7 instead. I guess I was lucky... it could have been 10...Qd6?? or 10...Qd5?? (In either case I would have resigned at once. I never ask or give takebacks.) Black is still better, but I would have been much better with 10...Qd4.

So, he plays 11.Bxf4 (which turns out to be very bad. He had to play 11.Bb2 and black's better), and I play now, with a loss of a tempo, 11...Qd4, and he retreats with 12.Bd2, to protect the N on c3. Now, in this position:

What would you play?

  WannaBe: <Fusilli> I'd play 12...Bg4

  Fusilli: <WannaBe: <Fusilli> I'd play 12...Bg4>

... which is a natural move. I played 12...Nc6, also a natural move.

Then, I ran the game by Stockfish and... 12...Re5! wins on the spot!

(I've taken to running my blitz games through Stockfish to see what tactical issues I have to work on, or if I conducted attacks properly, etc. It's fun to find surprising misses.)

Fusilli: <WannaBe: That's just not nice!!

http://gizmodo.com/a-simple-text-ca...

(I have an Android phone...)>

Ha ha, your last sentence precluded the inevitable "what's your number?" :)

This is really awful. I assume Apple will come up with a fix in no time. Did they already?

BTW, speaking of phones... I have an android too, and alternate between my awfully slow typing and my accent-ridden tries at the voice to text feature (the accent results in misunderstandings that I need to edit, but if I speak slowly and enunciating well, it usually goes through flawlessly). So, when I google-search, the keyboard has replaced the microphone icon with a smiley face icon. Any idea why it did that? This is only for the Google search feature. In the text message keyboard, for example, I still have the mike.

I found this: http://forums.androidcentral.com/t-..., but that is not it. I do have the Google Voice Typing option selected, to no avail.

WannaBe: <Fusilli> OK 12...Re5! with the intent of 13...Rf5 and pin.

Yes, and there is no defense. If I had told you "Black to play and win", you would have seen it. But I tricked you with a more innocuous question. ;)

And that's where the problem with tactics training lies... In the real world no one taps on your shoulder to let you know that this is the moment when you have a winning move. That's why I am a big fan of training going over full games (such as the Guess the Move feature) than going over diagrams of the "White/Black to move" type.

WannaBe: Apple announces iOS9 will be released this fall, with split screen for iPad:

Errrr, hello Apple, Samsung Galaxy already have that capability. Here's the article/review published in 2013. That's right, 2013!!

WannaBe: Ooops, looks like that split screen feature will not work on my (company issued) iPad.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/apple...

Only iPad Air 2 (latest iPad) will have this capability. Not sure if it's a CPU, or RAM (1G) limitation...

Maybe I'll splurge some $$ and get that Samsung Galaxy Android Phablet.

WannaBe: Nice, just "destroyed" a 2012R2 (Virtual Machine) server by un-installing a feature, and apparently I did this by 'accidentally' selecting/deleting the .NET Framework.

Time to wipe out this VM and start over...

WannaBe: Joyce Carol Oates!? I thought she was more smartest than that...

https://www.yahoo.com/movies/jurass...

Oh, well, as P.T. said, sucker born every minute.

Jun-11-15  playground player: <WannaBe> As a literary darling of the academic world, Joyce Carol Oates has no need to be smart. Seems she's never read <Jurassic Park>. Well, Serious Mainstream Literature aficionados don't like a story with a beginning, a middle, and an end. That's why JCO's stories always peter out without any kind of satisfactory resolution.

  WannaBe: Freakin' Stupid Microsoft...

Installing SharePoint Foundation 2010 on that 2012R2 Server, ASP .Net 3.5 was not installed.

So what happens, in the middle of the long debug log it shows what's wrong. (It doesn't go out and download/install ASP .Net)

After manually installing the feature, (Using the 2013R2 install DVD) SharePoint 2010 Foundation is rolling along doing its installation thing.

But it knows to go out and download/install SQL Reporting!!

Grrrrrrrrrr
