WannaBe: Well, it happened again, Win10 did an update, and my mouse (MPC by Microsoft) quit working.

Had to move it to another USB slot to get it working again. This have had happen with the first few Win10 updates, but have not happened for a while. Until today's update.

Ugh! Minor annoyances.

WannaBe: <pyke> just timed out on 2 of our games on GameKnot. His forum/profile says "So Long and Thanks for all the Fishes" (from Hitchhikers Guide).

I sincerely hope he is alright.

WannaBe: The high price of living in the Bay Area, Oakland home listed for $400K. That's right, not a typo, Four Hundred Thousand.

http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/...

Address in the article says it's close to the Oakland Zoo.

Aug-24-16  heuristic: <house in bay area> in a quasi-related note; this is hilarious:

WannaBe: There are certain music(al) pieces that just should not be converted/transposed to Marching Band Music.

I am listening to the Ol' Miss vs. Florida State Univ. game on Internet Radio. One of the school's marching band played Gustav Holst "Mars, God of War" piece, twice so far.

Ugh!! Heavens forbid, if some school's marching band decides to play Barber of Seville. That school automatically goes on my ignore list. There are just certain music that does not work with marching band(s).

WannaBe: <saffuna> Article is really detailed, I've been following Theranos for a while, so nothing was 'new', for me.

Still a very fascinating read, the one thing not in the article, is why she got into blood business, one of her relative, uncle, if I remember right, died because the test was inconclusive, or was not quite right in the diagnosis.

saffuna: Really interesting article. She sounds like a big-time promoter but didn't produce anything to justify a billion-dollar company. I see Forbes ranked it at $4.5 billion earlier, now basically at zero.

The secrecy should have been a hint that all was not as it appeared.

I watched the Cramer interview. She seems to be one of these people who tries to deflect tough questions with a barrage of aggressive words, always on the counterattack. Sort of like the Trump spokespeople on TV.

It brought back memories from back in the 70s. I used to drive on Page Mill Road every day, in what was then known as the Stanford Industrial Park. There was a small building housing Genentech out on the edge (probably not the edge any more), one of the first biotech companies. The phrase "Silicon Valley" had not been invented yet.

WannaBe: <saffuna> I know Page Mill Road well, as I go to Frys Electronics often. =)

saffuna: I thought Fry's is just off El Camino Real, on the east side near Palo Alto High School. I guess it's near the corner of Page Mill, which goes west past Hewlett Packard and a lot of the old-line companies.
