Casa de Fesser, Havana, February 16, 1864 - Morphy stopped for only a few days in Cuba on his way to New Orleans. The blindfold play was unplanned, but occurred when Morphy began playing Celso Golmayo, Placido Dominguez and Felix Sicre while carrying on a conversation with his host, Francisco Fesser. It is not clear that the games were simultaneous or consecutive, but it was a blindfold exhibition of some type.

"A correspondent, writing from Havana, says that " Morphy has been electrifying theHavariese with his wonderful powers. I have had the pleasure of _passing,two whole days amid invited admirers ,oC this king of chess, all watching in eager silence eaeh move. Our best player, arid; in fact, the best player on the island, is a negro, black as ebony. * His father came from Africa. He has often beaten hisr master, to whom Morphy only gives a knight. - Morphy has agreed toj>l ' ay a. game %vith him, giving him. the king ' s knight. As yet, we have had but one blindfold game. This was at__ the house _«f Mr. ©harles Sedano. We are to "witness a match of ten blindfold games at the house of the same gentleman_, on Tuesday next. What causes the _greatestworider here is, that Morphy can combine conversation with. a- group of ladies and gentlemen while playing his same." - Press (Philadelphia, PA), Saturday, December 27, 1862; Section: Front page, Page: 1
