Svenskt deltagande i Helsingfors
Finlands aldsta schackforening, Helsingfors Schackklubb, firade under november sitt 50-ars jubileum.

Swedish participation in Helsinki
Finland's oldest chess association, Helsinki Chess Club, celebrated its 50th anniversary in November. In connection with this event, the club organized an international tournament and invited Petrov from Latvia and Stoltz from Sweden. The best Finnish masters - with the exception of Kaila and Ojanen, who were prevented due to lack of time - part time.
The board got a steep surprise. The case from the drill out as if Stoltz was going to win a lazy victory, preferably as he in the third round defeated his respondent competitor, Petrow, and another after six rounds led the tournament. But Stoltz is, as edge, the surprises man. He was the only one who managed to lose against the board's jumbo, Candolin.
The malor hand in the seventh round and then it was
Also end with Swedish progress. In the last two batches, Stoltz got the draw with a draw; spirit had in one, towards Salo, had two bonder more in a playoff!
The tournament sergeant now went to the energetic playing Petrow. Her only lost to Stoltz; In addition, he showed greater importance and concentration in the Swede. Finland's Master Book lost no party, but his large referral rate (66.6!) Pulled down the result.
Stoltz claimed for his part that Krogius was the one who had played bast in the tournament but lacked sufficient fitness.

The article of Petrov "How the chess tournament in Helsingfors turned out." was published in "Segodnia", December 1, 1936, p. 8:
"The chess tournament in Helsingfors, organized in the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the oldest in Finland Helsingfors chess club, was held in stubborn struggle.
Prior to the 5th round, was leading Stoltz, who won against me a very nice endgame in the third round.
At the beginning of the tournament, a talented Finn Salo advanced, having 4 points after the 5th round. The finish of the tournament, however, changed a lot. I managed to defeat Salo.
Stoltz (Sweden) was exhausted by the end and managed to score only 1.5 points in the last 4 rounds. The first prize went to me with 7 points from 9 games (apart from losing to Stoltz, I made 2 draws) ..."
