Mateo: What an amazing battle! One should expect many kibitzing about such a rich game. I wonder if this one has been analyzed in some book?

paulalbert: Tartakower wrote the tournament book:

Bad Kissingen
Internationales Schachturnier 1928
Turnierbuch

Of course it is in German, and there may be a Russian translation book as well.

I think all the games are annotated, but I do not have the book.

With some work I could probably find a place to acquire the book. My interest is not only because it is an important historical chess tournament which probably Capablanca would have very much hoped to win to establish more strongly his credentials for an Alekhine rematch.

I was stationed in Bad Kissingen as an U.S. Army Officer in 1967 and 1968 and played chess on the outdoor set there in the park. I also played on the same set when my wife and I visited again many years later, so my interest in this tournament and the book has several facets.

Jan-20-24  whiteshark: Now that I have the tournament book to hand, (BCM classic reprint no. 21), it's a fantastic read. Tartakower is a truly linguistically powerful commentator

The round intro (or summary) says on this game:

"Dr. Euwe, who refuted Marshall's somewhat superficial attacking style in a very witty manner, managed to climb up the tournament table."
