Aug-18-02 | | refutor: unbelievable...anderssen was an amazing player...i thought that white was winning throughout |

 | | Sneaky: Everybody beats Adolf, right up to the point where they're checkmated! |
Oct-05-02 | | drukenknight: 13 00 Rb8 14 Re1 looks strong |
Oct-05-02
 | | Honza Cervenka: 13. 0-0 Rb8 14. Re1 Qxh4 seems to be very good for black. |
Oct-05-02
 | | Honza Cervenka: It is really fantastic game. |
Oct-05-02 | | drukenknight: hmmm:
13. 0-0 Rb8 14. Qe1! |
Oct-05-02
 | | Honza Cervenka: 13. 0-0 Rb8 14. Qe1 Ba6 15. Rf2 g3 and I think that black wins. |
Oct-05-02 | | drukenknight: 14...Ba6 15 Qxg4 Nf6 (if white takes the N then the B/Q go after f7) 16 Re1 |
Oct-05-02
 | | Honza Cervenka: If 19.c4 then 19...Qxa4 20.b3 [20.Qxa4 Re2+ 21.Kg1 Re1+ 22.Kf2 Rf1#] 20...Qd7 with strong and probably winning attack, for example 21.Bd2 Re2+ 22.Kg1 Qe7 [black threatens to play Qe5 or Qf6; 23.h5 Qe5 -+; 23.Bc6 Qe5 -+; 23.a3 Qe5 -+; 23.Qc1 Qf6 24.Bc3 f3 25.gxf3 Rxh2 26.Kxh2 Qxh4+ -+; 23.c5 Bxc5 24.Bxf4 Re1+ 25.Qxe1 Bxd4+ -+] 23.b4 Qf6 24.Bc3 f3 and black wins. |
Oct-05-02 | | drukenknight: Honza I deleted one of the comments above, here is the line I think we are discussing. I am unsure which way you will go with the 15th move here: 13 0-0 Rb8 14. Qe1 Ba6 15 Qxg4 Nf6 (if 15...BxR then QxN w/ pressure on f7) 16 Re1 |
Oct-05-02
 | | Honza Cervenka: Well, but after 13 0-0 Rb8 14. Qe1 Ba6 is 15. Qxg4 impossible. |
Oct-05-02 | | ivan2kilu: Wow, that was brilliant. |
Oct-05-02 | | drukenknight: oops my mistake, I'll be back in a little while to think it over. |
Aug-27-03 | | Qian: discovered mate, i love it. |

Aug-27-03 | | Calli: Chessgames: Jakob Rosanes
Became a famous mathematician later in life. See bio and picture here http://www-gap.dcs.st-and.ac.uk/~hi... |
Aug-27-03
 | | Honza Cervenka: Yes, he was a famous mathematician and no chess patzer. I have submitted via PGN upload utility three other his games played against Anderssen, which I recently found out. Not always Rosanes lost...:-) |
Aug-27-03 | | fred lennox: Anderssen loved to attack with 2 or more adjacent pawns. Once g4 f4 is attained it becomes the focal point. The queenside pieces are unimportant save the bishop whose duty is to protect g4. This pawn rivets the defense and offense which without blacks game would fall apart. |
Aug-27-03 | | delf: thanks guys for the detailed analysis of the games... really helps. just a beginner |
Aug-27-03
 | | jaime gallegos: Anderssen was consistently defeated by Eichborn and Morphy. His record is not at the level of other world chess champions. |
Aug-27-03 | | ughaibu: Even among world champions Anderssen's tournament record is outstanding. His match with Morphy was arranged for Germany but in the end he had to travel to Paris during his vacation on top of which he hadn't played chess for several years, the value of the result is doubtfull. Eichborn only recorded his wins, compare the case of Lange who had an overall plus score against Anderssen but for the most part in "casual" games, when they played exhibition games Anderssen won giving Lange odds of pawn and move. For Anderssen, in many of his games, the artistic considerations outweighed the result so his ability can not be assessed on so superficial a basis. |

Apr-30-04 | | Whitehat1963: Wild game! But what's wrong with 20. dxe5? |
Apr-30-04
 | | tpstar: 20. dxe5 Qb6+ 21. Ke1 Rxe5+ 22. Ne2 (22. Kd2 Qd4++; 22. Ne4/Be4 Qg1+ 23. Kd2 Qe3++) Qg1+ 23. Kd2 Rxd5+ 24. Kc3 Qc5+ 25. Kb3 Rxd1 26. c3 (26. a3/a4 Bxc2+ 27. Ka2 Qc4+ mates, otherwise 26 ... Bxc2++) Nxe2 wins. Amazing that Black's attack is worth a whole Rook! |
Apr-30-04
 | | Honza Cervenka: <tpstar> If 20.dxe5 Qb6+ 21.Ke1, then why not simply 21...Qg1+ 22.Kd2 Qe3#? |
Apr-30-04
 | | tpstar: <Honza Cervenka> Right you are! Thanks for noting the correct line. |
Aug-15-04 | | Marius: what is the aim of 17. ...Qb6 ? |
