Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-10-09  Rubenchik: 35 ... h4, losing game. Bb6-d8 seems draw
Jan-24-19  tigreton: The main mistake is 27 ab6, it allows Black to create a distant passed a-pawn, which later will distract White pieces from the defense of the kingside.

Jan-24-19  whiteshark: <gezafan> That's fair to say.

True that that move set white up for trouble. It looks like Unzicker played for the draw and underestimated the danger.

I am in awe of Botvinnik's 37th move. I was looking at an old issue of Chess Life where Soltis presents it as a puzzle.

The computer evaluates 37...gxh4 as only a bit better than Kf5 or g4, but it is surely the most elegant, and even the one that requires the least calculation.

Unzicker's best chance was 38.gxh4 though.
