Jul-21-05  Resignation Trap: Botvinnik: "A tame draw. Nimzo-Indian defense along the lines of Makogonov - Smyslov."
Jul-21-05  aw1988: And they say Botvinnik didn't prepare. Hrm.
Jan-03-06  johnwgoes: They?
Jul-18-20  Dr Nahush: Makagonov- Sokolsky no?

perfidious: 'Tame draw', though not at all surprising, as the opponents were close friends and this was played early on in this event.

marcusantoinerome: In Larry Evans pamphlet David Bronsteins Early Games 1944-1949 he writes

These Soviet players enter one of the sharpest and most complicated variations of the Nimzo-Indian defense, but, after 20 moves, the game is soon simplified. The game itself is a theoretical gem, but these powerful notes represent months of pain taking analysis. Presumably both players were familiar with it prior to the game, but still it does not detract from the fact that this was one of the best played games and one of the sharpest struggles in the entire qualifying tournament.
