Egads, my first attempt with 10 ... Bg7 goes down in flames King's Gambit Accepted (C34), but at least Fritz agreed with 11. Be3 h5 [=] next time around. And for the record, it was g/10. =) But the Qd6 really bothered me, then 16. Nb5! was very strong. I missed how my Ra8 couldn't go to b8 due to the Bf4, so I lost a piece.

IMlday: <tpstar> After 10..Bg7 11.Be3 h5 Fritz may consider it equal, but what is Black going to do with his King? White's game is relatively easy to play, e.g. Castle, develop the pieces, aim for an e4-e5 break even if a gambit. Black's decisions are much more difficult; e.g. he lacks space for his 4 minor pieces; he must be able to defend against recurring e4-e5 gambits that White may or may not play. For silicon it may seem 'equal', but for carbon-based life forms with a practical time limit, Black already looks toasted to me. It would be an interesting line for a correspondence thematic tournament.
Mar-28-06  CaKnight: In John Nunn's book NCO, he gives 10.Nf4 Qe7 (10...Ne7? 11.e5! dxed 12.Ne4 Qg7 13.Nh5) 11.Bd3 (11.Kf2!?) 11...f5 (11...Bg7 12.Be3 h5 13.Qd2 Nd7 14.0-0-0 Nf8 15.Rhe1 Gallagher-S.Jackson, British Ch 1988) 12.Kf2 Bg7 13.Be3 fxe4 14.Nxe4 Gallagher-Chess Genius, Zurich simul 1995. My intent with 11.Nh5 was to open the d-file aiming for the weak d6 square. I felt 13...Be6 was better for black.
After 11.Be3 h5 I didn't like the prospects of 0-0 & black controling the a1-h8 diagonal.
