  Fusilli: <wolfmaster> There was one! But in 1979. :-)
Aug-27-13  Gottschalk: This was the only win of the brazilian Walter Cruz on Eliskases in 18 games. Overall record showed(+10 -1 = 7)
The argentinian Raul Cruz was defeated 3 times when played with Eliskases: Argentine championships of 1960, 1962 and 1964 Anyone who has doubts about the veracity of what I described, You can download the complete Eliskases' games on the link below http://www.brasilbase.pro.br/zip/je...

Rio de Janeiro Interzonal (1979)

  Phony Benoni: This game needs some investigation. It was analyzed by Reuben Fine in his "Game of the Month" feature in "Chess Review", November 1946, p. 12, so it seems unlikely that it was played in December of that year. (Not impossible, since chess magazines sometimes came out after their cover date. But very unlikely.)

"Chess Review" also provides a dozen extra moves:

<58.a4 Kc5 59.Rb8 Nc4 60.Ke2 Ne5 61.a5 Nc6 62.a6 Nxb8 63.a7 Nc6 64.a8Q Ne5 65.Qc8+ Kd4 66.Qh8 Ke4 67.Qh4+ Kf5 68.Ke3 Ng4+ 69.Kd4 Nf6 70.Qh3+ 1-0>

Possibly from

a blitz tournament in August 1946 held at Clube de Xadrez do Rio de Janeiro.

Eliskases won and Dr. 'Valter/Walter' 'Osvaldo/Oswaldo' Cruz shared 2nd [of 10].

or

the annual 'Torneo interclubs da F.M.X.' [Federação Brasiliense de Xadrez] after, where Eliskases played 1st board for Clube de Xadrez do Rio de Janeiro (with e.g. Octavio Figueira Trompowsky de Almeida), while Dr. Walter Oswaldo Cruz represented Club Fluminense (with e.g. his son of the same name and Thomas Pompeu Accioly Borges).

Certainly M Czerniak vs Pelikan, 1946 (kibitz #1) hints to a similar sourcing (cable overseas) for a batch of 'South American' games.

or

nothing from the above

  Phony Benoni: <login> Than you. That doesn't completely solve the problem, but I like the idea of a blitz tournament. The game has some of that tricky brilliance common in blitz play.
