An Englishman: Good Morning: When Euwe was in the mood, he could unleash extremely complicated speculative sacrifices. Even a player as great as Maroczy could get thrown off his game.
Nov-12-14  tranquilsimplicity: <An Englishman> Botvinnik commented that Euwe's game threw him off; Euwe's "long moves" disorientated Botvinnik. I have a profound feeling that Euwe, not Spassky as generally considered, was the first universal style player of the 20th century. Lasker played in both the 19 and 20th. And therefore this title is deserved by Euwe. Probably the most obscure and underrated World Chess Champion.#
