Feb-22-03  drukenknight: Kostich this is the one Fischer/Winawer that leaps to mind immediately when you mention the a4 idea. This looks like a pretty good game, its been awhile since I looked at it but I know the a pawn moves here are questionable.

In this game the a4 move amounts to moving the pawn twice, but black has to move a pawn too so the tempo lost here does not appear to be a big deal. Okay so black has gotten some more space on the q side, okay.

But then 16 a5 and his attack starts to slow down.

Tripling pawns on the c file also does not look like a good idea. Havent looked at this game in some time, I'll try to dig out my notes on this.

Apr-12-06  PaulKeres: What does anyone think about 11. Qf4!? or what else is there on move 11 for white, I'm looking for imrpovements here. Fischer's 11. Be3 doesn't "do it" for me, why retreat the queen until needed?
