Kibitzer's Corner
May-24-04  Gypsy: A fine win of (then IM) Jansa over Tal. Black's K-side plan worked out better than White Q-side play. The end was obviously played in a time-pressure and Tal was trying to muddy the waters. Nonetheless, when a referee alegedly tried to interfere with Jansa for record-keeping, it was Tal who chased the guy away!
Dec-13-04  chess man: I hate to see Tal lose,but right you are <Gypsy> black's kingside attack was stronger than white's queenside attack. (A rare game on Tal's part;he almost always has an attack going against the king!)
Dec-13-04  Avion: 66 wasn't the "deathly" year of Tal?

I mean, was he super sick that year?

Cuz we all know that he loved his kidney! /Sarcasm

Yeah, I think he was ill and that his play was poor because of it. And everyone always want to discourage him to not play. And he always do the opposite! Way to go Tal!

Not really, for him-1969 was a bad year, though.

Here are some nice efforts by the Wizard of Riga from that year: Tal vs Pachman, 1966, Tal vs Ong Jok Hva, 1966, and Tal vs Wade, 1966

Not to mention he shared 1st in the tournament this game is from: <Sarajevo 1966>

Jun-14-20  Zugzwangovich: I find many moves in this game quite baffling. For example, what's wrong with 27 Qxa6, establishing a protected passed pawn on the 6th rank? And what's the problem with 35...Rxe8?

27.Qxa6 g4 seems to be quite unpleasant for white.

<And what's the problem with 35...Rxe8?>

There is no problem with 35...Rxe8 but 35...hxg2+ is fine as well.
