Jan-11-04  patzer2: White converts a speculative exchange sacrifice (23. Nf4!?)into a draw by perpetual in this Fischer's Defense (3...d6) of the King's Gambit Accepted. Kasparov and Keene in BCO indicate Black's 6...Bh6 leads to equality, and this game apparently does nothing to change that assessment.
Feb-24-05  InspiredByMorphy: 27. Nfe7 also draws for if ... Qd6 28. Rxh7+ Kxh7 29. Qh5+ Kg7 30. Nf5+ wins the queen. Therefore its a draw by threefold repetition by 27. ...Qg7 28.Nf5 Qe5 29.Nfe7 Qg7 30.Nf5 Qe5

  tpstar: I like Black's play up to 15 ... 0-0!? because after advancing the g Pawn Black's King is much safer in the center or else ... 0-0-0, so maybe 15 ... Na6 (intending ... Nc7) & 16 ... Bd7 & 17 ... 0-0-0 clutching the extra Pawn. f7 could always be defended by ... Rf8 if needed, so the Qh6 still pressures the Ph4.
Jan-12-06  KingG: Maybe playing for the endgame with 13.Qd2 similar to Short vs Akopian, 1997 was better.

IMlday: <KingG> Yes 13.♕d2! is a deep move eliminating Black's only active piece, but I'd prepared the obvious 13.c4 already in 1975! It seems a bit better for White, arguably, at least it is not 'bust' by far.
Jan-12-06  KingG: <IMlday> Do you think White could have played better after 13.c4 ?

<I'd prepared the obvious 13.c4 already in 1975! It seems a bit better for White> Wow! Considering the line was only in its infance at the time, it's pretty impressive that your analysis streched to the 13th move(at least).

IMlday: <KingG> Instead of 15.♗g2, 15.h5 might be an improvement, preventing 15..♘g6. The line needs testing over the board of course.

plang: 11..Qf4 is an improvement on 11..Qh6 played in the game Short - Akopian 1997. Gallagher felt that after 16..c5 black would have had good chances. Whites position looks promising after this. Perhaps 21 Rg3 and 23 Nf4 were not best. It was not necessary to sacrifice the exchange and white appeared to have pressure on the d file.
