May-01-05  Poisonpawns: Are there any engame experts out there? Is this position salvageable by Victor? I was thinking of maybe 37..Kf5!? 38.b6 Ke6 39.b7 Bc4!40.f4 followed by Kd5 getting to the queenside pawns. After 37..Nc8!? 38.Nd7! Kf5?(Ne7!39.b6 Nc6 40.b7 Kf5!41.b8Q Nxb8 42.Nxb8 Ke6! draws) loses immediately, now black is tied down to the defense of the pawns, but cannot capture them, and white wins by penetrating on the kingside.
May-02-05  Boomie: That seems to do the trick. My Uncle Fritz has a talent for endgames. I like the way the black king restrains the q-side pawns without really doing anything. Then it swings back to the k-side.
