tpstar: Well here's an instructive trap. Up to 5. Nbd2 c5 we have a standard QID where White avoided c4 for now and instead played 3. Bf4. Therefore Black must be alert for Queenside tactics, especially with 5 ... c5 over the safer 5 ... Be7. After the alert move 6. Nc4 Black could try 6 ... d6 to hold the central dark squares, yet 7. dc dc 8. Qxd8+ Kxd8 9. 0-0-0+ & 10. Nd6 is fantastic for White. Maybe 6 ... Ne4 7. Bd3 f5 with more space than the game continuation, but d6 is still glaringly weak. However 8. Bb5+ must be met by the ugly 8 ... Kf8, since 8 ... Nfd7? 9. Nxd7 Nxd7 10. Ne5 wins a piece, also 10 ... Bc8? 11. Nc6 traps the Queen. The key mistake was 7 ... Be7? and the poor Queen has no exit strategy.
Dec-22-15  morfishine: <tpstar> The main point: After 10...Bc8? 11. Nc6 traps the Queen
