Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-15-05  Karpova: 8....nd2: since white's queen's bishop is completely useless black would have doine better playing 8...bb7

11.rae1 better was 11.b4. e4 cannot be played at the moment

20....rg7? leads to a loss. rdf7! would have been better. it's important for black to be able to answer white's d5 by e5.

21.d5! messes up black's position.

23....bc8? (23....rgf7 24.qb2)

25....bb7 (25...bf5:? 26.qf2)

37....rg8 (37....h6 38.f6+ and g6)

51.kh6 and black resigns. don't know why the game goes on here.

Jul-24-07  Karpova: 12.e4 fxe4 13.Bxe4 Bxe4 14.Rxe4 d5 15.Re2 Qxf4 16.Qxf4 Rxf4 17.Rxe6 dxc4 18.Re8+ Rf8 19.Rxf8+ Kxf8 20.Ne5+ Kg8 21.Rc1 (<better than Kmoch's 21.Rf7 which allows 21...Nc6>) 21...a5 22.Rxc4 Na6 (<21...a5 had the purpose to allow this move. After 21...Na6 22.Rxc4 white would threaten 23.Ra4>) the position might have been to drawish in Rubinstein's eyes.

42....Rg1+ 43.Rg2 wouldn't have been good as black wins a rook but can't stop the queening on h8
