Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-02-03  drukenknight: the a q-side advance often becomes important in the Marshall. Here it looks like Tal is winning after Boris allows the exchange of queens. perhaps now is the time for; 23 a4

I would think 20...Qe6 to at least reconnect a pawns if white wants the exchange.

Jun-03-03  fred lennox: Perhaps, 23 a4...Be1 a4xb5...Bxb5 might give too much piece activity against the pawns.

20...Qe6 gives black a backward pawn that would of been uncomfortable. I will agree white has the better game. Black can't stop Nc5 which cripples black attack on the queenside.

Dec-03-05  rjsolcruz: I have played this 12 Bxd5 move vs Nabos in our Meralco vs LRT 1 Match in Nov 2005 in Pasig City and was able to survive the Marshall onslaught with a draw. It is always nice to play the Ruy and encounter the Marshall line once in a while as most black players prefers the ... d6 line.
Jun-08-09  WhiteRook48: pawn up for most of the game
Nov-06-22  edubueno: As far as I know, Spassky mistake was 18...Bf5, because 18...Bd7 was enough for equality.
