Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-26-13  nummerzwei: Mr. Ker missed chances for an upset here: 21. Bc4+ Kf6 22.Qh2! would have given him a strong attack.

Jonathan Sarfati: An ingenious retreating move. The Black K will be buffeted from all directions, especially after Rxa4 - a6/7.

Richard Taylor: Yes. Anthony, I think, one the NZ section of the NZ Open this January. (2019)

This brings his number of NZ Champs closer to Sarapu's record. But I'm not sure. I'll check the results again.

Jan-04-20  areknames: <21. Bc4+ Kf6 22.Qh2! would have given him a strong attack.> White is winning after this. What a missed opportunity, it's not everyday an (at the time) untitled player can defeat a former WC. Spassky ended up winning the tournament and Ker finished last.

perfidious: A most unfortunate missed opportunity and yet another demonstration of the aphorism that the most easily overlooked moves are long retreats.
