Jul-17-05  morphynoman2: Cool Moves bt Kholmov, really. A very instructive game.
Jul-18-05  Resignation Trap: Yes. Don't you really get a good dose of Schadenfreude while watching every last drop of Black's play getting squeezed out of his position?
Jul-04-07  sanyas: Sweet.

  GrahamClayton: If Black exchanges Queens with 19...♕xe3, Kholmov's analysis gives him an advantage after 20. fxe3 ♘e6 21. ♘f3 ♗a6 22. ♗xa6 ♖xa6 23. ♘xe5 ♘c5 24. ♘d7.
Mar-14-15  fispok: It must have been so depressing to play as black here. Material is technically even, but he has zero chances.

perfidious: White's technical precision in this game is pleasing indeed, but by no means did he have a walkover in the career matchups between these players; it was only after Suetin got a large overall edge that Kholmov came close to levelling matters: http://www.chessgames.com/perl/ches...
Mar-01-18  zydeco: I think this game really epitomizes Kholmov's style. There's something creaky about his treatment of the opening (the odd-looking maneuver of the queen to d3 and b3 and then his near-desparation to trade off as many pieces as possible as fast as possible) but all it takes is a minor inaccuracy on black's part - 16....a5 rather than the immediate 16....Nf4 - and Kholmov has all that he needs, control of the d-file combined with threats against black's queenside weaknesses. Really classy game from a perenially underestimated player.
