Jan-23-04  InspiredByMorphy: Well played by Alfred. I was shocked to see
who he was playing, and to do this well with the elephant gambit. Where the score ends he has 36.Ne5+ 37.Kd4 Nxg4 38.Nd3 Nh6! followed by Nf5, and Nxh4. Although this game was a draw, it appears to me that black has a win. Well played anyhow, and it really says something for the elephant gambit, if it can be played this well against a GM as strong as Tal. Way to go Alfred!

In the line you give there is no win for Black, and maybe some advantage for White, after 36... ♘e5+ 37. ♔e2 ♘xg4 38. ♘b3 (idea of ♘d4+)
Jan-04-12  Charousek.jnr: well done Alfred! This proves that the Calvary Counter-gambit as I call it from my win against Chessmaster4000 in 2003,a day before Good Friday(Easter). I won that game in 33 moves exactly the age of the Lord JESUS when He conquered on the cross on Mount Calvary. I play this gambit to honour GOD!

FSR: If that last comment is serious, it's a strong early contender for Weirdest Comment of the Year.

FSR: 6.Nbd2! improves for White. I think 6.Nfd2!? preparing Nc3 has also been suggested in that position.
Jun-04-21  Whitehat1963: <FSR>, you were right about that bizarre comment! To everything there is a season .... But this isn’t the place!

Anyway, interesting look at the Opening of the Day.
