Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-22-07  Autoreparaturwerkbau: It seems like everything Tal tried in the game, was rotten.

Or he was a bit tired. Or he was something else.

Jun-02-20  carpovius: Am sure Tal was something else)
Mar-29-21  tympsa: Tal sometimes had trouble playing against players with similar attacking style . Here was key that black ruined white king position completely, no possibility to castle. If you look at position after 26...exf5, you just cannot believe that player with white pieces is former World Champion, still world # 13 in 1971 and soon is going to be in top 10 again . 3 biggest wins in Kärner career are over Tal twice ( checkmated him on the board in Tallinn 1983 ) and over Karpov 1970. Karpov panicked under furious attack, did not find quiet bishop move which would save him and resigned when mate in 2 was on board.

OhioChessFan: Shockingly bad play by Tal. If 22. Rb1 is the best you got, it's time to resign.
