Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-05-08  Amarande: Center beats wing. Black should certainly have played 11 ... d6, after which White retains an advantage but there is hardly any cataclysmic plan.

On the other hand after the ill-considered 11 ... c5?? (why Tartakower played this is beyond me), the game's road map is pretty much defined from start to finish. White will put all his force into a King's wing attack, and four of Black's pieces are stuck on the Q wing completely unable to get back to the defense. The weakness at f6 allowing the pawn storm to commence in the grand manner is neatly forced too by 14 Bg5!, Black must shield his Queen due to the need to guard Bb6.

GOTD candidate?

Aug-15-21  Stanco: You have just explained it, Fuderer knew what he was doing.
