Apr-08-06  Autoreparaturwerkbau: This and this:Dyner vs Dreyer, 1934 game have a lot in common. Which is original?

Phony Benoni: This must be the right version. In the other game, White played 4.Nf3 instead of 4.Qb3. That means that the ♖a1 was protected after 6.Bd2, and White could have answered 6...Nc6 with 7.axb4 safely. Also, after 8.e3, Black could get out of the trap with 8...Nxf3+.
Sep-28-11  SeanBurdine: My source gives Black's name for this game as "Walter".

Phony Benoni: <SeanBurdine> There may be something to that. "The Fireside Book of Chess (Cherneve & Reinfeld, 1949), p. 208, gives Black's name as "Walter" as well.

I realized that source cannot be completely trusted in these matters. But in light of the previous confusion mentioned, Black's identity needs to be checked out.

Jun-04-20  sea7kenp: I am guessing that Black Resigned, because he couldn't stop the loss of a Piece? That would make 7 ... Nxd4 a questionable Move.
