Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-12-05  Knight13: Now how's a master like Steinitz fall into a game like King-Moving game? I don't believe it.

aw1988: They were following the Immortal Draw Hamppe-Meitner.
Jun-12-05  fgh: Black could have easily resigned after white's 15th move. There was no point in playing on, except for waisting Steinitz's time.

gauer: For famous King-walk variations, Steinitz also played his own Steinitz Gambit after 2 f4. I wonder if he discovered some transposition theory lines in each of these middlegames that us kibitzers hven't yet found?

who: But Steinitz varied with 9.c3
Sep-12-08  Fanacas: Steinitz thought that moving his king to the center was good he thought that the king was a strong piece who should help fighting. (and that the king move's to the center here is just a chess opening)

gauer: Not to be outdone, a future World Champion contender in Chigorin vs H Caro, 1898 gave a similar King-march idea a try, too.
