chessgames.com: Thanks to user offramp for submitting this example of "peace talks" between the Prime Minister of Estonia (Laar) and the Prime Minister of Sweden (Persson).
Sep-02-05  aw1988: They should have at least played 80 more moves, for peace lasting... :)
Dec-04-05  dakgootje: Yeah but then youll have the chance that one of them wins after which there comes a new world war!!!! Nah okay...europian war...war between some countries where its too cold? Sweden-Estonia war then? Okay some parts of those countries...some people of the coutries then? We have an agreement then? ah okay a war between only 2 man...any suggestions? Ah the 2 prime ministers! Yup good one...Muahahaha who wants peace if you can get a mini-war???
Jan-12-06  Kajtek: Good that they agreed to a quick draw as I suspect the game would have quickly degenerated into a big embarrassment for Persson
Feb-08-06  McCool: Tuh?? Should have been a longer game.
Mar-17-07  nimh: 4 years ago when there were parliamental elections in Estonia, the leader of the Centrist Party Edgar Savisaar played chess grandmaster giving a simultan in an electioneering commercial. After that another great politician (I don't remember anymore who it was) offered him a game but Savisaar declined. What a disappoitnment, that would have been damn interesting!
Feb-07-08  D.Observer: <dakgootje>, a draw was agreed since they really wanted peace!
May-02-08  deadlysin: haha it was prime ministers
Mar-12-09  pleutman: Well if chess speaks a language in itself, then this in its brevity is one hell of a peice! :A diplomatic draw! An allegory of events off the board and over it!
Sep-18-10  nvrennvren: i hope Mart Laar wins, though both guys look fat and stupid
