Phony Benoni: Looks like another case of Losing Through Overconfidence. Is there a point to <12...g5> besides intimidation?

White keeps her cool, and simply uses Black's overextended kingside pawns to opn up lines in her favor. By the time <34.Qg5> comes in, White's winning a pawn and there may not be a defense to the attack in any event. ROmanishin chooses to go quietly.

  al wazir: 40...Nxh4 41. Qh8+ Kg5 (41...Kg6 42. Qf6#) 42. Qf6+ Kg4 43. Qf4#.
Feb-27-14  dunican: <al wazir> On 40..Nxh4, I bet Ushenina would actually play 41.Qg7#.
Feb-27-14  Gogia: dunican: <al wazir> On 40..Nxh4, I bet Ushenina would actually play 41.Qg7#. - :))
Feb-27-14  Cheapo by the Dozen: I'm sorry, but the pun is offensive.
Feb-27-14  Cheapo by the Dozen: I thought 30 Qf2 rather than 20 Rf2, but that was fool's gold. The game continuation seems much preferable.
Feb-27-14  newzild: The first pun in a long time that actually made me chuckle.
Feb-27-14  Tim Delaney: I agree with <Cheapo by the Dozen>; the pun is offensive. Perhaps only mildly so, but still ...
Feb-27-14  psmith: At the time this game was played, Ushenina was a WGM, 19 or 20 years old and rated somewhere between 2350 and low 2400s. Romanishin was a 53 year old GM with a rating somewhere in the mid-2500s. He treats her as if she is a beginner, and pays the price. Now her rating is higher than his.
Feb-27-14  kevin86: White has three threats of mate on the move; black can only stop two.
Feb-27-14  galdur: Well played and pun is good.

Check It Out: Is chick mildly offensive? I say it all depends on how you use it, e.g. Dixie Chicks.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dixie_...

In this case it is being used to create a pun so it seems fine to me.

The mildly offensive form would most likely be a male using it directly on an individual or group of 20-something females, with his buddies standing around gawking as he calls out to them. On the other hand if another guy in that same group merely turned to his pal and said, "hey, that blonde is a cute chick", I don't see anything offensive in that.

perfidious: While I have never referred to a woman as a chick, I do not consider the usage herein offensive in any way; moreover, the example given by <CIO> of one pal making a reference to another is reasonable too, as there is no intent to degrade the subject of the remark.

There are times when political correctness is overdone, thereby becoming a caricature of itself. In my opinion, there are better ways of spending one's time and energy than becoming lathered up over something like this--it is making something out of nothing.

Feb-27-14  galdur: It´s a just a tongue in cheek thing. Got to give them some poetic licence.
Feb-27-14  adroit: Bravo! Exciting finish :)

al wazir: <dunican: Ushenina would actually play 41.Qg7#.> Oh.
Feb-27-14  WhiteRook48: It's amazing to me how well White handled this game.
Feb-27-14  Strelets: Chicken Kiev is delicious. That, and a good game, is what I take from this.
