fredthebear: In the final position, if the en prise Black bishop leaves the d-file for safety, it's mate in two moves. Thus, 33...Bxc4?? 34.Qg8+ Ke7 35.Qxf7#.

Also 33...Qxc4?? 34.Rxf7#.

Apr-20-21  rwbean: One of the famous 11 "Nolot positions" for computer chess testing. In 1994 Feng-Hsiung Hsu ran them with Deep Thought 2 and wrote for this one

"The move played was 1. ♗h7, but as it turns out 1. ♗h7 might not be the best move. Osnos defended poorly and got slaughtered. With best black defence, white only maintains a positional edge after 1. ♗h7 ♔h7 2. ♕h5 ♔g8 3. ♖d4 ♗f3! (with the idea of ♕xc2, and then ♕ to king side to defend the king). DT-2 prefers to play c4, which threatens ♗h7 for real."

SF13 has no hesitation in playing 24. ♗xh7+ (+0.74 at 41 ply). If 24. c4 then 24... e5! is equal.
