Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-05-10  Frankenstein17: Kramnik's passive style meets Aronian's solid defense, means absolute draw.

What do you mean? Had Kramnik chosen 30. Qf4 for example he would have a big, almost winning, advantage.

Sep-05-10  Frankenstein17: I mean, due to Kramnik's style, he usually plays for not losing rather than winning. However, this rating system 3-1-0 is not suitable for him.

Rybka's best line after 29. ...Nd7 (depth 20 and +0.93 for white):

30. Qf4 Nxc5 31. dxc5 Be4 32. c6 b6 33. Bd3 Bxd3 34. Rxd3 Kh8 35. Kg2 Rb8 36. Be3 Bb4 37. Bd4 Re7 38. Bc3 Bxc3 39. Rdxc3 Qc7 40. h5

I disagree with you. With White he always aims to win.

Thanks for the Rybka line. Let me try to give a 'human' explanation of it! The tactical point is that 30. Nxe6 does not work because after 30. ... Rxc3 the Black rook is attacking the White queen. After <30. Qf4> taking on e6 becomes a real threat and so Black is forced to take on c5: <30. ... Nxc5 31. dxc5>:

and White should have a decisive edge here.

Sep-06-10  Hovik2009: In human term I wouldn't call the position above rising after 30....Nxc5 31.dxc5 decisive advantage for white!

Black is left with formidable force of pair of bishops and rooks plus queen and safe king and semi-decent pawn structure.

Black side is Aronian, GM with full bag of tricks ready to sacrifice material for initiative at any moment, and who is well known for bouncing back from deffensive position into a furious attacking player in a flash!

beside that White side is Kramnik and not Rybka!

  tamar: Kramnik on 30 Nb3

<Now, I think, both moves Qe1 and Qf4, maybe even Qf4 is the most accurate, White is simply technically winning.

But I decided to make it forced and I just blundered...

And actually what is the most disappointing, I saw both Qe1 and Qf4, I saw all the ideas, but for some reason, I decided to force a win...it was just terrible...>

Sep-07-10  goldenbear: This is a brilliant game by Kramnik. I think this may kill a very annoying defense for a long time...
