Arvids Kalnins (kibitz #1)

This game was played by Heinricks Kalnins .

As <mifralu> points out in his kibbutz, the Latvian Wikipedia article on https://lv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indri... states that it was Heinricks Kalnins (Indrikis Kalnins) who played in this event.

olimpbase incorrectly lists <Arvids Kalnins> as playing this game.

Contemporaneous evidence that it was Heinricks Kalnins who played this game, not <Arvids Kalnins>.

"Atputa Nr.621 (25.09.1936)" http://www.periodika.lv/periodika2-...

The article shows a name-keyed photograph of the Latvian team who played in the <Munich 1936> Unofficial Olympiad. <Heinricks Kalnins> is the first player on the left in the photo, listed as <J. Kalnins>.

<J. Kalnins> = <I. Kalnins> = <Indrikis Kalnins> = <Heinricks Kalnins>.

No <Arvid Kalnins> listed or shown in the photograph.

It was <mifralu> who made the catch of the day: Arvids Kalnins (kibitz #1)

We are all indebted to him- he is a godsend to our website.

I hope you are well. It's always nice to see you eh?

  Fusilli: <JFQ> I see. Then, thanks, <mifralu>!

I'm ok, heading to Naperville, IL to play the US Senior (50+) Open next weekend. And then Philadelphia for the World Open.

Wish me well!

Good luck!!

<Annie> That was fast thanks so much for the correction. It was giving me hives to see the wrong player in this game. I tried to contact <olimpbase> about this and some other Latvian player mistakes, but I'm not sure the webmaster ever got my message. I hope everything is ok because it is a vital resource for chess history.
