Aug-01-14  Ke2: Interesting gambit whose refutation is useful for all d6 Sicilian players. I guess you can try to transpose if you're scared but that gives white more options with his nb1.
Dec-03-14  TheFocus: From a simul in Waltham, Massachusetts on February 20, 1964.

Fischer scored +39=1-0.

woldsmandriffield: A very strange opening. 10..d5 just keeps the piece since 11 f3 runs ito 11..Bc5+ and White is busted.
Mar-12-19  Granny O Doul: Somewhat better than this is the "Ginsburg Gambit", 7. Bb5+ followed by 8. Nxe6 with a likely queen swap ensuing and a materially equal ending. It was played a bit by the IM Mark Ginsburg in his young days but is best accompanied by a bit of histrionics, which he found increasingly difficult to infuse with the necessary air of spontaneity.

Dionysius1: Isn't it a bit odd for Fischer to have Black? Given how a mixture of colours can mean the hero can end up playing against himself, I wonder how this happened.

perfidious: <Dionysius1>, maybe not so much: in the early-mid 1970s, I played Browne and Bisguier (the latter more than once) in displays and always had White. Tried 6.Bg5 against Browne's Najdorf as an 1100 player.
Mar-03-23  VerySeriousExpert: The super grandmaster Bobby Fischer was a great player, but he wasn't a mortal chess machine. Thus, Yury Bukayev has shown in his new analytical research ( https://jeromegambit.blogspot.com/2... ) that Bobby Fischer has made two serious mistakes in succession in the beginning of this game, even in his favourite opening, even in a winning position, even when he was very well and achieved excellent sport results, even against a not strong opponent. Yes, we all are humans.
Mar-03-23  VerySeriousExpert: These serious mistakes are 10...Be7 and 11...Qd7 - look, please, at this Yury's research.

<Dionysius1>,
According to John Donaldson in <A Legend On The Road>, Lunenfeld (who organised the exhibition), asked if some of the players could have the White pieces - Fischer agreed to the top 5 boards playing White.
