A *fantastic* <PETITE COMBINAISON> by Humpy Koneru.

32 ♖c8x♘f8+!

The Black g7-bishop cannot take on f8 because it must <DEFEND/PROTECT> the f6-sq from the threat of a <KNIGHT FORK> from the <CENTRALIZED> White d5-knight due to the <KNIGHT FORK DISTANCE> between the Black g4-queen and Black g8-king (i.e., 32 ... ♗g7x♖f8?? 33 ♘d5-f6+).

32 ... ♔g8x♖f8

Now the Black g8-king has been <DECOYED (DRAGGED)> to the f8-sq, where His Majesty is <TRAPPED> on a <WEAK BACK RANK>.

33 ♕d3x♖e2!

The point of the combination: the Black g4-queen is <OVERWORKED>, having to <DEFEND/PROTECT> the <LOOSE> Black e2-rook from <CAPTURE> while also simultaneusly <DEFENDING/PROTECTING> the <LOOSE> c8-mating sq.

Two simple <FORCING MOVES>, a <CHECK> 32 ♖c8x♘f8+! and a <CAPTURE> 33 ♕d3x♖e2!, and White has won a clean piece.

Game Collection: OVERLOADED (YDNPS)! OVERLOADED (YDNPS)! OVERLOAD 33 Qd3xRe2! g4-queen must protect both e2-rook & c8-mating sq

Game Collection: OVERLOADED (YDNPS): PART DEUX 32 Rc8xNf8+! g7-bishop must protect f6-forking sq from d5-knight

An outstanding display by Humpy Koneru of exploiting <OVERLOADED PIECES>.
